Absolutely. 1 ring is needed for a player to be in contention for the GOAT, but the number of rings should not dictate where one sits on that list. Different teams, different careers, different front offices, differen opponents, etc. All those factors can play into the # of rings a player has.
I'll never forget watching jordan win the championship after he came back out of retirement (the first time) after his fathers death. His reaction was genuine and you could tell that winning for his dad and himself meant something. Imo, it takes more than 1 ring.
