Just finished mounting the fan from first bird

    Son of a.... I had two nice fans dried and saved to put in my man cave. I had them and a bunch of beards in an upstairs closet that has a window. I got them out this morning and the fans are ruined as well as half of the beards falling a part. Looks like some kind of bug or something been dining on them. Anyone ever had this happen?

    Both fans were total losses. One was from my daughter's bird, that really hurt. All of the beards were falling apart, some just worse than others. I wound up taping them all tight and resetting them in the brass. A friend told me to start putting all of my beards in borax for a few days after removal from bird to dry out anything mites would be interested in, and to be sure to seal the beard in the brass with epoxy...

    We do borax for a couple months to play it safe. Cover any part that had flesh on it. We have never had any problems.
