I only deer hunt with bow. Still trying to get another shot at the buck I missed earlier in the season. It's him or bust. With guns a blazing now my chances are slim but I will hunt every chance I get until end of season. Seen more bucks in range than ever this year.

I haven't hunted deer with a firearm in 5 years. I'm not starting this year. Bow all the way.

I will be back in the woods soon with a bow as I don't gun hunt. I really have no intentions of shooting a buck and will be doe hunting. Extremely rare to see a antlered deer after firearm and muzzleloader seasons in my area. I really just focus on taking a couple more does.

No offense to my team, but scoring on a buck for the contest was never a thought of mine during the season. I was honest with them up front though. :D I joined the contest for fun and to get to know some of the guys on this forum better.

Let does go on almost every sit this year. Passed up MANY young bucks, several very nice ones.

I'm still bowhunting and shotgun hunting both whenever it is legal to do either. Been waiting for a shooter buck all year, but it's time for does now.

Haven't taken a buck with my bow yet. I did shoot 2 does last week with a rifle for meat (and to thin the herd). I'm back to the bow here in VA....but will have a couple more trips to WV to thin some more does with the m/l and rifle later this month.

Well since my archery tag is only good for bow... I be bow hunting. Muzzle loading season is going on now but since I don't own one, have never ever shot one and have never sent in for a lottery draw for muzzle loading... it pretty much means nothing to me since bow season isn't shut down for it. Bow season goes a little bit after January 1st. I'll either tag out or hunt until the very end waiting on a good buck. Bring on the cold !! :)

I took a doe with my rifle, to put some meat in the freezer. This weekend is the end of the regular gun season; we have three more days right after Christmas. I will be out with my gun this weekend, but I probally won't shoot a buck unless he's a really good one. I should have two tags left for the contest.

Still bowhunting. I'm in the contest but that has nothing to do with it.

I will have the rifle out till the end of PA rifle season, (2 more weeks) then if I have a tag left I will try to get out during the late muzzleloader/bow season after the holidays with my bow, so don't count me out just yet, but things will be a little more tricky from here on out.

    Stikbow,

Walt, don't make me come up there! "Did the Americans stop when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?" Stay positive man!

Jeff, I will be out hunting with Rob for bison this coming weekend. I'm taking Tigger to Nebraska the following weekend and will end the year in Wimberley, Tx. I am taking you down..."biggest buck outside our own state"!

Take some pictures, Wilbur (I know you will). I live my dream hunts, vicariously (for now) through you! Looking forward, already, to sharing camp with you two in 2010 (at least twice!). Get me some "Tigger" photos, too. Good stuff, man.

I wish you nothing but success on your Bison, Nebraska and TX hunts. Last time I hunted Nebraska (pheasant), I had never deer hunted. But I sure saw a couple nice ones. We hunted 30,000 acres of prarie, but I don't recall a single climb-able tree. Sounds interesting to this foothills hunter.

And, since I won't be traveling out of state to hunt whitetails anymore this year......you've already won that "bet"! Looking forward to your annual "recap" thread.

    Sincerely,

    J

Props to all you guys still at it (with any weapon). And, here's hoping you guys still bowhunting all have the one you want come by. I'll be hunting for a second buck here in NC until they shed their antlers (I have an opportunity to hunt a DMAP tract that will extend my season....but I'll only be hunting Saturdays, after the new year). I "may" get to hunt the DMAP area the weeks of Christmas/New Year's a few weekdays.

Good luck to all of you.

I got my buck on Halloween but will be up in that tree on Saturday trying for my second one. I've never got two bucks with a bow in the same year. Its very difficult after rifle season here. Deer are really pressured on all sides of our property besides ours. I'm really just hoping to see one to be honest.

I have not taken a deer yet. I have used a gun in the gun seasons of my state and in PA however, in Delaware, will hunt a few more times with my bow. So, still a chance at taking one for the team.

I did take a nice buck during our shotgun season on Nov 20th (this weekend again is gun season)...I had the same buck at 40 yards 2 days prior with bow but never offered a shot...shot him at under 30 yards with gun - go figure. I will be back at it with bow after this weekend until Mid January...my odds drop considerably (as does my hunting time)...but I've seen nice bucks in late season - and would love to get one for me personally - but also to share with my team.

Good luck to all those still chasing - hunt hard until the fat lady is singing!
