While sitting in my stand this morning I had a doe and a young 8 point working there way towards me at about 80 yards when a loud snap and my stand dropped about four inches and I may have yelled slightly and the deer took off of course. After calming down I looked at everything and found one of my cables that connect the frame of the stand to the platform had snapped. Now this isn't a new stand by any means but I did go over it before season looking for anything wrong and guess I missed something. So just a reminder go over your gear and go over it often and always wear your harness.
Glad you're alright! That could have been a very bad deal. I think I would poop a little if that happened to me Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Holly crap such a huge fear of mine! Ill never be able to sit in a stand if/when something like that happens to me, my fear of heights is bad enough as is. Glad you are ok brother!
thank GOD is you ok..Good thing it was 1 and not both. I'm with rknierim I think a woman like yell and a little poop would have happened followed by me climbing down lol
glad your ok... part of why I always carry extra ratchet straps to hold my stand to the tree... back in the 70's had the stand of a climber fall out from under me and leave me sitting in the seat with no platform below me, and this was before there was such a thing as safety harness... was able to climb down, change my underware, and never climb a tree again without extra straps to secure it and make sure it don't move an inch before trusting it to hunt out of ...
All of my stands that have any age on them I replace the cables with small chain. I have see so many of those type cables break on pickup tailgates. The worst part of it is the cables usually look just fine right before they break. Glad ur ok!!
