This was not from a tree stand but it was from a 20 foot roof. I go on roofs all the time to help people out but we always tie off. This time I got in a hurry and did not tie off and I ended up falling from 20 feet down to the concrete. I got lucky and only broke my left arm in six places. My hand completely separated from my arm. I had a metal plate and 11 screws put in my arm.The pain has been tremendous and therapy is long and sometimes painful. Luckily I am going to make a full recovery but I just wanted to remind everyone when you go off the ground make sure you are tied off some how.

Wow, that's brutal but could have been so much worse. I'm guilty myself of getting complacent sometimes and had some close calls over the years.
    Good luck

    Glad it wasn't worse!
My cousin/hunting partner is a roofer- getting him to use proper safety equip while hanging stands is a chore at best. Finally I had to tell him he could either harness in and rope off or hang his effing 30# steel Millenniums on his own. He eventually gave in.

    Get well soon!
I cracked a pinky finger the other day from a fall and I was on the ground. I find out if it needs surgery next week.

I will more than likely have to use my shotgun for turkey season but was told I will be in great shape for deer season.

That makes my dislocated shoulder seem not so bad. Hope you get better quickly.

Fingers crossed for you to heal up in time! I have the exact same plate in my left wrist. Happened the beginning of March in 2012. I was shooting the bow by July. Painful, but doable. I gotta look for the pics to share.. lol

    EDIT: found the pics.

Fell off the back of a tractor trailer. My bone was sticking out a bit.

Make sure you do 110% of all the physical therapy. The opposite side of your wrist will hurt for up to a year and a half. Almost feel like that bone wants to pop right out. the hand ortho surgeon told me that was normal, and also instant arthritis.
Worst exercise is holding a hammer and twisting your wrist from 9 o’clock to 3 o clock!

Glad you’re OK by the way! That fall could’ve been so much worse!

Went to the surgeon yesterday and got a surprise. I’m six weeks out from my surgery and he told me my bone is healed completely. He also said I could start exercising or doing whatever I wanted to just listen to my body. My wife and I do yoga together and I have been doing therapeutic yoga the entire time. This morning I was able to get into a headstand without any pain it shocked me

You got Lucky man. I only took a 12 ft spill from a ladder and have a screw in my wrist broke my elbow too. Falling 20ft is horrible. Glad you’re ok! It happens so fast
