Well this mornin I headed out to do the final shooting and testing of Will's Bow and to give young Jackson his Burnie Special. I started off by stringing up Will's Bow and handing to Jackson to see if he could draw it back, I know it was a cruel thing to do to a 6 yr old. Well he tried his best to pull her back but to no avail, it just just a tad too much for him. So off to the car I go and get the Burnie Special and said you wanna try this one. "You bet" was the response I got so I strung her up for him. He loaded up an arra went to pull it back and I reminded him of the previous lesson, so he carefully set is bow hand then made sure he had the string in the first groove of his fingers. Talk about a natural with a long bow I thought he would be all over the place as he has only ever shot a compound with sights. Boy was I wrong his first couple of shots where right on line but low so I instructed him on how to aim. That was all it took for him to start slamming the target bag. Here he is on his first few shots. His follow through. Ok so now he wanted to go out to the wooded section where we have some 3d targets set up. The shot up turkey we decided to make this one tough and shoot through the "wait a while" vine. Notice only 1 arrow in the target.:d A real hard 1/4ering too shot I totally missed By now we had been shooting for close to 2 hours and of course he has more stamina than this old boy and wanted 1 last shot. Oh all shots we took this morning where from 20 to 25 yards. Great fun was had by all even tho he handed me my butt :d
Thanks guys yes it was a lot of fun, I would have liked to have stayed longer but the mercury was pushing 101 and Jackson had to get ready for a 3pm ball game.
You and kent did good! Kent brought his new bow out here but forgot to have a brass nock handy to set,but we shot a few sticks and had fun for a friday evening.Jackson is a up and coming threat to animals around his place!:d
Im glad the bow worked out. Hate that the mail messed it up. For the next bow, I might have more than two days to make it. Rowell, I was counting on you to have some brass nocks. lol. If you see our rabbit friend, tell him to bring back my arrow.
Kent. Once again thank you for making it for him, Ok so whats the story about the arrow theiving wabbit:d
Kent was having fits tuning without a nock but he was wearing the rabbits out...till he drilled one to far back and it ran off with a shaft poking through!Looks like Jackson is already eye to eye with you Russ. That bow will alway be a keepsake to him I'm sure.
It looks like he will be able to shoot that bow for a while. He still has quite a bit of draw left on that bow. Im really glade I was able to help out. I just got my new shop set up. It is half the size of my old one. Ive got to do some wireing and Ill be back in buisness. That is once I get all the other projects done, as well as all the moving. Later on this winter Ill expand my shop some. Till then, Ill be a little cramped.
