So had it been anyone else other than me that had said exactly what I did, your response would have been different?

I'm a traditional bow hunter. I shoot the slowest bow out there and to top It off I shoot very heavy arrows (700 grains). Combine all of that and that's one very slow arrow (150 fps). How many deer have I had duck my string do to noise or shooting too far? Maybe one but I might have shot high on that doe too. I don't care what anybody says here, It all boils down to shot distance. I've proven that time and time again with my slow bow. 95% of my kills of deer and bear have been from 10 to 12 yards. Only once In 17 years hunting with my recurve would speed have killed for me. It was last year and I had a nice buck at 17 yards. It was during the rut and he was chasing doe's back and forth around my stand. I drew back on him 4 times before I finally got a shot off. He wouldn't stay put. Anyhow he stayed put for a bit and I drew back and let an arrow fly. Just after I released he went to take off after a doe again. Before he was going to chase the doe he started to haunch down to run after the one doe. When he did that my arrow obviously went high and I hit him In the spine. A faster bow (compound) would've gotten my arrow there on time. If he wouldn't of moved I'd be looking at him on my wall right now. Man I was ticked as I pretty much did everything right. Right before my arrow got there It was looking perfect. A perfect double lung white fletched arrow was making It's way. After thinking long and hard about this shot I've often wondered If I did the right thing by shooting at this buck that would hardly stay put. We'll see If I do It again. I know this much It will be In my mind because of what happened In 2011.

Schultzy this me put it into perspective that i will need to keep my shots close, I already try to do keeping them within 30 yards but ill be bumping my arrow weight up alot compared to what it is now so ill be shooting something like 210 fps. You have shown that its possible to take deer with a slow bow but you have to be smart and know your gear, so thanks for helping me out even if you didnt know you were

Anytime. Yeah If I shot a compound I'd bump my max yardage out compared to what It Is with my recurve. I'd probably limit myself to 25 to 30 yard shots. Speed gets thrown Into the mix so much these days by all these pro shops and bow manufacturers that It's no wonder bow hunters are taking very long shots being there told they can by the "experts" selling the stuff. To each there own though.

I didn't read every post but the first thing I do when someone complains about a loud bow is look at the arrow. Adding weight to a arrow is the best way to cut down on vibrations which results in noise.

That is truly fixing the problem instead of trying to supress the problem with various attachments.
