Julien I think you just need to slow down and rethink what you type before you post it in this site. I started posting on this sight when I was young just like you but you need to not try and over step your bounds. Bragging about being a very good shot isn't going to help you prove yourself around here at all. From the sounds of it you are a skilled young archer but there is way more to hunting then being a good shot ( which I found out myself this year). So just relax, ask your questions and try to take something away from all the input these guys are giving out. Between me and you some of this old guys get a little bent out of shape when they find out that they can be out shot ( strictly target shooting) by some kid . And just a note to everyone bad mouthing young Julien, remember he's a 14 year old kid trying to learn more about this passion we all have. Try to think about the dumbass things you said when you were that age so you can relate.
I promise I'm not trolling I don't even know what it means I have heard it but I don't know what it ia
Yes, it is pretty improbable for a beginning archery hunter. Did you do it? Or, were you just feeling pressure to fit in?
This I actually did but I can't take all credit because a lot of the success was due to my dad who called for me as well as set up the stand location and scouted. I just took the shots
My first season I got 2, second season I got 2 I got 3 last year and 5 this year. Keep in mind this year was the first I really hunted. I set up my stand scouted called them in and took the shot. My dad usually did that and I just shot
Keep in mind 9 of those we're does. When I started if it came into bow range I shot it. I got my first buck this season and then 2 more
Julian, I'm beginning to get irritated buddy. Caught you in another one. You stated in this thread that you mainly spot and stalk and that is why you have been shooting at them at the distances you have. Now you are saying your dad set up the stand locations and in that statement not one mention of a spot and stalk kill. Things aren't adding up man! We are all here to help but, your starting to light fires on bridges. Keep it up and no one will respond to any of your post. I'm not saying you are lying but, one of those two statements aren't completely true. Five this season with archery equipment is a little far fetched. Impossible, no. Improbable, yes. You are verging on being labeled as a liar. Don't make us pull the "Lets see pics or they didn't happen" card buddy.
You don't need to justify that fact to anyone IMHO. Seriously, did he ever say he only spot and stalks? Now Sticknstrings is looking for juvenile things to nit pick on to assert his imagined prowess as a hunter. Stick, lay off. He apologized and thanked you. You started bowhunting once too, and let us not forget those threads.... Julien just think before you post. Willingness to learn and listen will gain more respect around here than shooting as much, as many, and as far. Good luck the rest of the season. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
I know and I'm not nit picking. If it came across that way I apologize. I was just trying to show him how he keeps appearing to some.... Imagined prowess. I like that one. Now explain to me how I have an imagined skill in hunting? I don't believe I have ever portrayed myself to be an all knowing expert on this matter such as some have here have I? I haven't killed many animals but, is that the definitive of a hunter now? What I do have is knowledge gained by everyone on this sight including yourself. I am attempting to help others gain that knowledge. I have exercised this knowledge and it has proven to work so far for me. So I am guessing that may, in turn seem to be my "imagine prowess"? Like backcountry said, think, ask and listen. You will learn a lot that way. Believe me. I know.
Stickandstring isn't nit picking, he is pointing out this kid keeps tossing lies out there. How about man up since you are a teenager, stop spreading the bull**** on here, and try to learn something from the folks here Julien. I guess this is one thing that's really starting to disappoint me in this website, all the constant bickering and people getting up in arms because God forbid someone chews a kid out for being stupid (in this instance).
Yeah I tried that here and it's dang near impossible unless you are fortunate enough to have a lot of open area which there isn't much of here. I'd love to go out west and do it though.
On your personal page you said "I just started bowhunting and I have always been rifle hunting." So you say you have shot 12 deer so far, basically anything that comes into bow range. But on your page you say you just started bowhunting.
Yep well put. When i was younger if i did something stupid or lied. You better i was getting yelled at if not that a little smack on the back side. I feel like this way of raising your kids has changed and thats where the kids change as well. So some discipline or chewing out isnt always bad.
If it would have been a different poster my response would have been different. I never chastised anyone for telling.he had done wrong. But there is a right and wrong way to show criticism. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
I have read this entire thread and will only say the following as advice for you Julien: Obviously if you have deer consistently ducking your arrow at the distance of 30 yards there are only a couple things that could explain it. #1 Deer will hear your shot, end of discussion. No bow out there is quick enough or silent enough for a deer to not at minimum tense up, possibly this only results in less than an inch of a duck or perhaps more. It will and does happen though. #2 Perhaps your slight grunt or whistle whatever you're using to stop them is too loud or aggressive. I used to make a louder noise when I started but noticed deer would be too much on edge when I shot then...last few years I've almost started just using my nostrils as a slight blowing sound, just loud enough for them to stop but is a more "natural noise" animals make whether through a sneeze, alert noise or aggressive wheeze. #3 You're simply not consistent enough at that distance. This could be to the fact you're spending too much time trying to shoot extreme distances. While flinging arrows at 60, 80 or even 100 yards is fun...it is a waste of time unless you've mastered the shorter distances. In the same breath once you've mastered the shorter distances KEEP PRACTICING AT THEM THE MOST. To group great once at 30 yards doesn't mean you always will. Now as for the supposed trolling or absurd comments you've been caught making and some of the un"likely" claims you've made. Julien you have no one to impress here. None of us here care what you can do at 80 yards or 100 yards and at what ball you claim to be able to hit? All that does is make yourself come across as pompous or arrogant...two fairly un-attractive characteristics. Now if you have done this and truly just want to share it as an awesome personal experience...be prepared to prove it (video) or be ridiculed. This site will either give you tons of answers, or tons of honesty and sometimes both. People here will be quick to help but will also be quick to call you out. There is nothing wrong with admitting you don't know everything, can't shoot like an Olympian nor stalk a deer like an Indian. As a matter of fact the one thing you need to realize is this: "The very best hunters will always say they have more to learn."
