Haha yep sadly it will hopefully we all have better luck next fall. Do you guys turkey hunt ? Sent from my iPhone
Yep! Last year I called in 3 longbeards following a hen. I had them at 10 yards but they caught me drawing my bow. They ran back and I missed judged the yardage. Shot a 32 yard shot for 25 and smoked him in the wing. I was shooting magnus bullheads that are made for head shots, so the arrow bounced right off. Got nothing more than an explosion of feathers. I was hunting an area that nobody hunts, so I'm confident those birds are still around to take this spring. Can't wait!
I'm going for the first time this spring so if Remy hints turkey too we can do a side bet then maybe. Sent from my iPhone
If you guys of a side bet for turkey can I get in on this. This is my first year turkey hunting with a bow. Get gobblers the last three years with the shotgun, but this is the first year with a bow Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I'd like to get in also if you do a side bet for turkeys. First year with a bow going for first turkey. Drew a good season in WI that doesn't conflict with baseball!
What we could do is if you two find one more guy we can do a 3 v. 3 it would be JPT, Remy , and myself vs your team that you put together. Let us know if you want to do that and we can work out all the details later. Sent from my iPhone
Would you want to use the NWTF's scoring system weight + (2 x beard length) + (10 x combined spur length) For Example: A 19-pound gobbler with a 9-inch beard and one-inch spurs would score 57 points. (19+18+20=57) Or just make each bird worth a set amount of points, just to make it fair for people who don't have access to big birds Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
also not knowing how long this sub forum ( 2013 deer contest) will remain up we can create a group page for the contest Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Once you guys put your team together we can make a seperate thread, so we can leave this one for the deer
Any idea on how we should do the scoring? Or should we leave that up to Oly Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I think the NWTF's scoring system should do. And MI has both lottery and OTC. If you dont draw in the lottery for the early (usualy better, but shorter season) you can buy an OTC tag for the late season (Usually not as good hunting, but way longer).
That scoring system sounds good to me. I've only turkey hunted twice in my life and both were shotgun hunts. I'm such "fresh fish" when it comes to the birds.
