Something did need to be done like this to J.Gordon IMHO, sad thing is he needs help for his substance abuse, and maybe this will help him see that.

But Ray Rice should be out the entire season as well, if not as stated above in jail. I work in Bmore and Ravens fans love him regardless, remember their 1st pre-season game against the 49ers the fans gave him a standing O...lol... The sad comparison should be Merriweather of the Skins gets a 2 game suspension for "what they called was a illegal hit" on Torrey Smith, but actually was a very clean good football hit... Now comparing what Merriweather did to what Rice did and both will serve 2 gms suspension is a freakin JOKE

Both were given the correct sentences in relation to the established penalties for infractions. The fact is Gordon has a long history of drug offenses and Rice has zero history of domestic violence.

Correct. My only argument is on the inaccuracy of the positive test, but, regardless it's his responsibility. The frustrating part is that he has so much talent just to throw it away because of who he hangs out with or what he puts into his body (allegedly :) ).

Same way Lance did, just Lance was smarter. Lance had a failed B sample in early 2000's

Any of you guys that have been around domestic and family courts know how lenient they are on first time offenders. Ray Rice was not treated with kids gloves, he was treated like most other first time offenders. Seriously guys I have arrested many a good man and woman on domestic assault and battery charges because they messed up bad for a total of just a few seconds when emotions were high.

It just seems that professional sports and the money that goes hand in hand with them bring out the very worst in both, the players and those whom they call their friends.
Yet if you think that by the mixing of dollars with the chitt the smell of the chitt will some how be less offensive, you are mistaken, the dollars in reality have no masking qualities, in fact its quite the contrary.

It only takes one time to be a piece of crap, coward, wife beater. Rice is lower than the lonely piece of dog crap on the bottom of my shoe.

Hey VS want to make up any more excuses for Rice now that the video is out?

You know Goddell saw this before he gave out the 2 game suspension. The fans that cheered him should be embarrassed that they are more worried about their team than Rice being a GIANT D BAG!

I had never seen this video of the actual punch until today. All I can say is wow that was pretty brutal.

Just scroll down it's the first story, pretty disturbing the NFL had this the whole time. Damn Redskins safety got 2 games for a hit on the field in the 3rd preseason game. Shame on the NFL and more importantly Ray Rice.

Rice should be in jail for what he did. And he should be suspended for life. To me the 6 games then life is not saying you have a zero tolerance policy. It should be life right off the bat.

Reading reports now that say the NFL didn't have the video from inside the elevator. They do now, wonder if that changes things?

I agree that he belongs in jail but i'm also going to play devils advocate. Should people who are in other lines of work be banned from their careers if convicted of domestic abuse?

I have no use for a guy that hits any woman but that's just how I was raised but most people are not in the spotlight. The people that are making a living off of being in a spotlighted career need to hold higher standards then Joe blow at the office. Public perception is crucially in the NFL they have to maintain it.
