If someone is going to call someone out in this way, atleast have enough conviction to memorize the "speech" and not have to read it.

The best thing John McCain ever achieved was getting caught by the NVA. This guy should have rehearsed his speech though instead of stumbling through reading it.

Very few public speakers memorize speeches anymore. But he definitely coulda worked on the delivery a little bit.

What I notice is McCain laughing at him, the same guy playing poker on his iPhone while we talk about going to war again in the Middle East.

He doesn't have to know it word for word but atleast have an idea about what you're saying.

If you truly have convictions and true belief in what you're saying, then you shouldn't have to read it word for word.

Look up some of reagans speeches in the early days. He spoke for a half hour and never read a word. Knew and believed in what he was saying.

I agree, kinda lacks class. Even the guy in the video showed him respect. Im not a fan of mcains politics but I have the highest level of respect for him and what he did for this country.

Very true. I have to give a speech later this week for class. Its called the "manuscript-memorization speech" We pick a narrative and get to know it to a point where we can present part of it of of memorization but we still have the words in front of us for the parts we dont know as well. If he would have reviewed it some he could have easily presented most of it by memory.

Liking an average joe to Reagan? At least the guy had a pair to stand up to one of the most influcial GOP members in the Senate and lay down some smack, albiet a little radical. It's one thing to rant about your beliefs on a forum where it won't make a difference at all, it's another thing to stand toe to toe and put yourself out there. I give the guy credit

Here is a truly great speech by a great american. As he gets further into it, you can see his conviction and belief in what he is speaking about. Watch this to see how a master really does it.

Amazingly, it is still relevant today and it's almost 50 years old.

I misspoke, got it I forgot this isn't a conversation with guys I work with. I have been wounded in combat and have four tours in the Middle East so please don't think I don't appreciate his service. I do however think that being a former POW has served him well in his political career and that his actual character is weak despite what he has been through.

I wasn't liking him to reagan, just saying have an idea about what the hell your *****ing about before you start *****ing.

Just pointing out that reagan was a master at speaking and had conviction when he did.

It seemed to me this guy lacked conviction having to stumble through his written word. Reminded me of obama without his teleprompter. :what:

Idk obviously the guys delivery wasn't the best but reading something off a paper doesn't mean you have any less conviction or belief in what your saying.

I read off a lot of promotion and award warrents when I was in military but I still stumbled through them sometimes. For many people public speaking isn't something they do or are comfortable with.

I understand now Chris. Thank you for your service and I am glad you made it home after dealing with that craphole in the middle east.

Our Congress HAS forgotten about Americans. They are starting to remind me of the Medieval era high ranking priests. Under the guise of "wanting to help" and being "respected lawmakers" they squander our money on things that will either help them make more money or help them keep more of our money. And they do it in the shadows.

It appeared to me he didn't even write the words. He looked as though he was reading something someone else had written for the first time. Atleast try to know the material.

IMO,He would have been better served to hand mccain the letter and let him read it at his leisure.

I truly don't know what to think about the Syria situation. I know I don't trust Obama to handle much of anything correctly. I find it odd with how the Iraq situation went down and the overwhelming proof that there were chemical weapons used on the kurds and he was against military action then. Then no wmd were found and there was strong suspicions they ended up in syria. Now we have wmd used in syria but bush is still a liar.

I truly believe we need peace in that region and we need to be part of the resolution of peace to be at peace at home. Doing right is in our best interest, regardless of where it takes place. But we need to be sure we are on the right side of the conflict and I'm not sure about that.
