    Has anybody been following this?

Hes upset that Clay Matthews said in a radio interview this week that he would not hestitate to hit Kaep just like any other runner in tomorrow's game and that it is the key to beating a read option quarterback. Jim thinks hes singling out the QB and made a few press releases about it. The NFL sent out a tape of the rules to all of the teams this week as a result and it cleary showed that yes, if the quarterback is in a read-type play then he is considered a runner and doesnt have the same protection as a pocket passer.

Naturally Harbaugh whined about it...the NFL then told him they have no further interest about looking into the matter.

    A) Im glad Clay said what he did. It was painful last year to see players get hit with roughing the passer penalties and on the next play have the quarterback roll out for 40 yards because players were afraid to hit them passed the line of scrimmage. All this did was refresh the refs minds about the rules.

    B) Is Jim one of the biggest dbags in the NFL or what? The handshake thing was on Schwartz (in my opinion) being a softy but Jim started relishing in the "tough guy" image afterwords. Now hes afraid his secret weapon might not be as dangerous. I thought they were the "tough" team in the nfl this year?

Does this stem our playoff loss? Probably. Does this help Clay Matthews and the Packers D install a little fear into Kaep? You betcha. I cant wait to watch.

His comments were pathetic. What does he think this is, flag football?

I will admit that I am biased since I hate Kaep...but damn he looks like a whiner in the national sports media outlets now

He wants the rules interpreted different to further the success of his team. Real simple....A quarterback attempts to run he gets hit. He can be hit in the legs or anywhere else that is legal. He is a runner now.

The defensive side of the ball has been getting shafted for years.

I think the NFL is becoming aware of the fans disdain for this as well. Nobody likes roughing the passer penalties...they are a drive and momentum killing evil if you ask me.

(Im not saying it should be abolished obviously...im saying that it needs to be interpreted more consistently and probably called a little less)

It was said, once the QB becomes a runner he gets no extra protection. I agree with CM that's how you stop the read option or at least slow it down.

You stop the read option by hitting the QB every single time he tucks the ball to run, whether he pitches it or not. Teams will wise up and discontinue that type of offense once their qb's get sent to the ER.

How many games does Mike Vick usually last? One Kaep gets rocked a few times he will become a pocket passer and his numbers will decline.

I will admit...if Green Bay DOESNT hit Kaep...were getting blown out tomorrow.

I get what he was doing. He was putting the spotlight on Mathew's actions. So when he gives Kaep a cheap shot, it's seen. If it's just those 2 in the backfield, the refs will have an eye on that situation. Smart move on Harbaugh's part.

However, that situation didn't take place, Mathew's cheap shot was right in front of the camera... he's so BA, take out the QB while he's out of bounds...

    I know, you're biased because you're a packer's fan, and I'm biased because I think Mathew's is a db.

Theres a big difference between Kaep and Vick. :poke:

Matthews was trying to put a cheap shot on him but it's hard to say it was since Kaep was just stepping out of bounds.

This shows everything you need to know about Jim Harbaugh without saying a word.

That they did. Game could have went either way. Good as can be expected for the outcome as an underdog on the road against a Super Bowl team.
