Out this morning for turkeys and GMMAT mentions how he has never seen a coyote while hunting. Well, that was fixed this morning. We had one come in a little after 8:00 and gave us a good opportunity, which I screwed up. Jeff is convinced that the shot was 30 yards. I watched my arrow start at this dog's shoulder and drop below him. I am guessing a 33 yard shot. Jeff thinks I am crazy. Bottom line, I missed, dog lives, but it was a lot of fun and Jeff's first coyote encounter in 260+ hunts. I'm glad I didn't steal the first kill from him:cool: :bash:

P.S. I think the glare off of the slide screwed up my aim. :lmao:

Beautiful land around here. Jeff is blessed to have the opportunity to hunt land like this. truly a great mini vacation for me and I really appreciate it from my fantastic host and his lovely wife.

    LOL....

We ranged it after the newest member of the 'Miss North Carolina' pageant made his debut. OK...I'm pitiful. It "might" have been 31yds!

Beautiful little yote......and he'd have looked good on the wall, in Ohio. We learned (at least THIS yote) isn't afraid of blinds.......and not all of them are moving 100% of the time. He offered a really good shot.

We saw or heard turks on every sit (out of 5) except one.....but it wasn't in the cards. We got skunked. Excellent visit.....and a good time was had by all. Already looking forward to the next time Jim makes it back to NC.

Sounds like some fun was had. I am glad you guys got to go out, I know it was a bit iffy there for a while if you were even gonna have a turkey spot.

Maybe it's just me, but people who hunt with Jeff tend to miss a lot:)

I missed a coyote at 35 yards a few years back. I thought he was at 30, shot looked great but just missed low. I was close. Sounds like you all are having a great time and I wish you luck on those turkey.

The rangefinder was on my hip. One of those times where we just didn't feel we had time to range him and still get a shot. Had to guess. All I know is that arrow started right at his shoulder and went low. So, either I missed a few inches low, or it was longer. Either way, it makes no difference in the end and it was a great encounter and a great trip. Turkeys gobbling all over the place. They just wouldn't quite cooperate for us.
