I've always loved Jeeps! My dad's second jeep (CJ-5) he bought new in '73. In 2001, we completely rebuilt it. Last April, I finally got around to getting my own, a '78 CJ-7. I have since sold my truck, so it's now my daily driver.

This last week was a good one. I got new wheels & tires for my jeep, and my dad traded his 18' trailer for two "new" jeeps. Here are a bunch of photos...

My Jeep rockin' 17" Procomp Xtreme Alloys and 32" Wrangler DuraTracs.

Here's what it looked like before with the 35" tires the previous owner had stuffed in there.

Dad's CJ-5 when it was new (I'm diggin' the stache)

    ... and after the rebuild.

    The two "new" Jeeps...

    1st one's a '63 CJ-5 (the topper is going to be painted and swapped to dad's '73)

    2nd is a '56 CJ-5 that I would love to restore!

Yesterday we were able to get a full line-up shot.

Hoping to test fit the top on the '73 today, and bleed the brakes & fire up the '63.

So what about the rest of you? I know there are some jeepers out there! Let's see 'em! :tu:

If only they didn't ride like a... like a... well like a Jeep. LOL I owned a CJ5 one time. It was fun and went anywhere. I think it was a 65 or maybe 66. I belonged to a hunting camp in Georgia that had 3000 acres of land 60 miles away. After about one fall of driving it to camp I added a tow bar and towed it over with my van. LOL Much easier ride after a long weekend of hunting and driving logging roads.

I would love to have a Jeep sometime. But its second on the vehicular "to buy" list, right behind a Dodge Cummins :tu: A Jeep about like yours, with a 5 speed transmission, with 35's is my dream Jeep

How much are you asking? Just out of curiosity

I want to try to get 8,500 for it. Most down in my area are goin for about 9,000. Jeeps hold value well. But if I was offered 8,000 cash....done deal. Haha

& I feel your pain, before the jeep I had a '02 Chevy 2500 HD 4x4 with the 8.1L in it...bein easy on it, it got 9 per gallon

That's why you get a truck that uses the green handled fuel pump :D

The bad thing about my truck is that it only has the little 5.0 in it, and still is a gas guzzler

    No photos. I've owned a '78 (CJ-7) and '95; '97; '99 and '03 Wranglers plus 2 Grand Cherokees.

I'll own another wrangler, one day.

That's cool you have those older Jeeps. Looking forward to the progress. Congrats.

Nice looking Jeeps!! I've been wanting a jeep wrangler for a while now. Just looking for a good deal. It seems some Jeep owners are mighty proud in regards to their asking prices.

I have to ask, is a 4 banger worth it? Or should I just stick with getting a 4.0?

I had a 97 Wrangler with 35's on it. We had a love-hate relationship but it got me everywhere I needed to go. Nothing like a vehicle you can drive through a creek with the top down! I would love another one day but wouldn't make it my daily driver.

Why is that? Rough ride, reliability, something else? Curious, just in case I happen to buy one

Parts! I blew my power steering pump and replaced that and the steering box. Had aftermarket Tie rods and kept breaking the tie rod ends. Ride was rough and it was a money pit, but it was fun to drive.

Fitz, I love your photos. Those are some nice projects. This is my first Jeep and I love the dam thing. Gas milage sucks but the fun makes up for it. Its a 08 Wrangler unlimited. I have made custom shackle pulls on the front bumper that mount to the frame. Made a hitch and receiver to pull my home made trailer. I also made a lift system that mounts to the hardtop so I can raise it and drive out from under it.
Pictures are when it still had 17 " Mickey thompsoms tires. It now has Falls mastercraft. The rims are Incubus.

    Love Jeeps! Always have.
Grew up with my Dad's '81 CJ5, then he had an '88 YJ that I later bought from him when I could drive. Of course put the custom wheels and mud tires on it...later sold it and got a '97 TJ that I still drive - it's had 3 different sets of wheels/tires on it - they keep getting bigger:) 13-14mpg both city & highway - doesn't matter:)...but man when the tops down, summer night on a county rode - there's nothing better.

Sadly...my Jeep days are numbered:( But for good reason...Baby #4 is due next month and I've been holding on to the Wrangler too long as it is - just not a functional family vehicle (pretty sure there is no way to safely buckle a family of 6 in it). Time for the suburban full time...but there's always tomorrow...it's going to be hard for me to not wave at other Jeepers while I'm cruzing in the Sub...:)

...this thread ain't makin it any easier on me to part ways...:(

Are the 4 banger wranglers worth a look or should someone just stick to the V6?
