I am a Corrections Officer and witnessed a situation the other day that made me really question ethics when it comes to prisoners. However I thought it was really funny so I thought you guys would like this. I always treat Prisoners with respect even when they do not give me any. My reasoning? One day they are going to get out and that big steel door and the handcuffs will be gone. So here is the story…. PLEASE NOTE: All names and locations have been changed for this story Officer Smith was doing cell searches yesterday. When he went to check Miller’s cell he came across letters from his wife. Each letter was signed at the bottom “Love Linda”. He read through the letters and everything checked out ok that Miller could keep the letters. Later on Officer Smith casually had a conversation with Miller….. Officer Smith: “Hey Miller come over here…. You are from Greensburg right?” Miller: “Yeah why? Officer Smith: “Do you know a Linda Miller?” Miller: “Umm… Yeah that is my wife.” (With a puzzled look on his face) Officer Smith: (Pauses for a second and with a surprised look on his face) “…. Huh…” (Then turns and walks away without saying another word to miller) Miller stood there for a solid two minutes before returning to his cell…. That is what you call a Mind F***. Miller will get out in a couple years…. And performing Mind F***’s (although extremely funny to watch) is a good way to be hunted down and shot…. What are your thoughts?
Maybe not the smartest move on the CO's part. But who hasn't accidently dialed a wrong number. No one answered. A couple hours later a guy calls back wanting to know what you called that number for and comes off as a jerk. You could tell him you dialed the wrong number but that just seems to make them more of a jerk. It is much more fun to tell him... I just want to thank the lady of this number for the very good time last night. Then hang up. Tim
Not to mention what the crap the guy my be giving his wife now. I think if the CO is going to be pulling those pranks on con's he better keep his back to the wall.
In today's world...HELL NO. Caller ID leads them to your name, then your address and BAM! You get shot. Crimes of passion are very common especially in rural communities. Im a cocky SOB but would i ever taunt or "mess with" criminals or strangers? Uhh no.
In my opinion, there are few things that are off limits when messing with someone. Wife and kids cross the line though.
Agree. x2 Vito and Tony! I think It's more of a power trip for some of these higher ups. **** like this pisses me off!!
No this was not me. Like I said I treat them with respect, even when I shouldn't... In case anyone was wondering "Miller" is in for being in possession of Child Pornography. If you want to have a hard time in prison, be a person that does something bad to kids... Even cons have some morals when it comes to kids... Those are the ones that always get beat on.
Does the fact that "miller" is in prison because of a child pornography conviction change anyone's opinion on this? I honestly couldn't care if the guy has to sit in prison for the rest of his life wordering what happened to his wife. With this being said, I don't think that the CO's behavior is ethical. I just REALLY don't care about miller's mental anguish. Sevi's point about the prisoner eventually getting out is a good one.
That is a wussy move on the CO's part. If he gets the side of his face caved in by that guy I will not feel sorry for him. I do not wish it to happen to the chickens*** CO, but it very well might.
