Great pics! Jack rabbits and Magpies, something I've never seen. Very cool. Those must be Golden Eagles?

Wow golden eagles really are huge! I was wondering the same thing as Covey. I love rabbit are jacks good to eat as well?

You could make a nice big batch of biscuits and rabbit gravy with one of those!

The University ground which I work is a game refuge. We have a ton of jacks all over the place each year. Pretty amazing creatures to watch.

I haven't tried to eat the blacktailed jackrabbits. The locals say they're pretty bad. Sagebrush diet. The whitetail jackrabbits are supposed to be okay, but I haven't shot any of them. The blacktailed are pretty thick in places. Where we pronghorn hunted we probably saw 40 of them in a single day. There are mountain and desert cottontail rabbits which taste like eastern rabbits (they eat grass instead of sagebrush). There is also a little bitty pygmy rabbit out here. There no closed season on jackrabbits. They are fun to go after, they tend to get up and run and run and run. You'll just get glimpses of them as they bolt through the brush.

    Pictures are from a 2013 Covert MP6.

Next time I'll point it to the north. The light ground and blazing sun made for a bit of contrast issue but it did good even given that. I'm impressed with the trigger speed and sensitivity, I have about 100 flying magpie pics. LOL.
