Are we doing the "I bet I could still beat you!" thing? If so, this is getting better than I thought.

Poke the bear! Or was it kill the bear?

You make it too easy some times.

Whatever you say dude. You pretty much know everything (or so you think) Go catch some fish or something.

I don't see a problem with actually being a part of or at some point in your life being involved in what you're making an opinion about. Especially if you're going to babble like your word is gospel! It would be like me making statements like I know everything about.... training dolphins. Know nothing about it and not going to comment like I do. Or politics. Never was involved, know nothing about, dont' get in discussions because I have no points or opinions. Same holds true for discussing if a hockey player or basketball player is a better athlete. If you haven't been on both ends of the spectrum then how do you know what it takes to play both? If you havent' stood on a pair of skates, played a single shift of hockey in your life, may or may not have watched a handful of games, how can you be so certain that hockey players arent as athletic as basketball players? Because you played pick up games in the other sport? Mmmmmmk.

I won't debate ole Vito about fly fishing, because he knows a lot more than I do. He lives it and has done it a lot more than I have. Same holds true on the flipside. I have no problem conceding a topic I have no idea about. Some people have a harder time doing the same.

C'mon man. My original comment that set you off was a joke. You should know that. Then I just kept poking you. I'm a fisherman...when I get a bite I keep fishing.

Please release your vulcan mind meld trance on me Vito. I'd like to live a normal life again without being lured by your message board fishing skills. I can't escape your powers.

I played hockey for 12 years In school. There Isn't a sport tougher to master. So many kids drop out at a young age cause they just can't get It together. Our practices were brutal. Sprint after sprint after sprint. One has to be In very good shape. Basketball Is very athletic too In It's own way, specially In the NBA. I gotta agree with NYB on the golf thing. I tried golfing twice, holy **** I sucked!! I could hit a ball a long ways but never In the right direction. A golfer I am not.

I played broom ball a couple winters with some mean thugs on ice. Quite enjoyed it since it didn't involve skates or pads. We beat the hockey team in the big broom ball tournament that were favored to win it. It was a slaughter. :whip: Sissies should have stayed home polishing their hockey trophies and figure skates. :dan:

There is no doubt that there are many great athletes in Hockey.

But when I think about some of the most freakish athletes I have ever seen I come up with names like Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, Lawrence Taylor, Kobe Bryant, Walter Payton, Deon Sanders.........not Wayne Gretzky or Mario Leamuex

I played football in High School. I remember a lot of the guys who were pretty good hockey players could not cut is as football players. Many of them lacked the strength, speed, or toughness to play on our team. Our football coach was pretty hard core at making sure we adhered to an off season strength and conditioning program which really seemed to set us apart from the athletes in other sports at our school. The best athlete in our class was probably our QB/FS....6'3", 210 lbs, and could run a 4.5ish forty
