I hope the idiot shows it off to the wrong person and gets turned in. I forwarded the story and pic to two friends that do taxidermy work and they are going to send it to all of their contacts in the business. Just trying to get the word out in case whoever did it is dumb enough to take it somewhere.

What's sad is I thought it would be bigger. Can't believe someone would do that or think they weren't going to get caught... Nothing is sacred anymore!

It's a trophy to him and luckily it has vary unique traits to the antlers.

I understand its a trophy to him. That's why I used the word sacred.

That's so pathetic. Other than any sort of monetary gain (which wouldn't be that much for a buck like this), what sort of satisfaction can someone take in stealing someone else's deer?

I'm not trying to downgrade this buck, just saying that he's not the kind that Bass Pro would buy. Still a very nice animal IMO though.

i don't see the point in taking it. if i have a mount or a skull either i killed it or a family member killed it. needs sentimental value to be worth having. a deer on your wall you didn't kill or a family member is pointless

you see the prices pet supply stores are getting for antlers these days? probably 200 just in antlers.

we sell moderately thick 5" pieces for $26.99 and sell out each week.

It sucks it was stolen but what I really want to know is why this asshat left a full deer in the back of his truck overnight.

Why do you think this is odd? A lot of guys do this. It's colder outside this time of year then it is inside.

Most people, out here anyways, like to take the hang and skin technique vs. Leave it in the back of the truck.

a couple years back a nice buck I shot spent the night in the back of my truck. Ill just say that a few friends and I had a few too many barley pops celebrating. It was cold out though so it was all good. I like the skin and hang method too but sometimes there are unforeseen circumstances. ;)

    That is a real shame.

He is making a mistake not filing a police report in my opinion. Unless he illegally harvested the animal there is no reason not to and if people hear you aren't afraid to call the police they may be less likely to steal from you again. I had the stereo stolen out of my car once. It was a piece of junk but I called the police and made a big scene about showing him the car, filling out the report, he talked to some neighbors standing outside, etc. We lived there 6 more years and nobody ever stole from us again.
