After you have tried Shed's method, please give this guy a call. His number is 1-212-555-5555 extension 5555555.
Me to Rob and being that i have been on this property, I can almost see this ass-o doing what he did as you described it Get em John
I had a similar problem this year. I found four wheeler tracks on an old logging road that runs through our property in north MO. When I went to check my trail camera they had already found it and stolen the camera. I have no idea who it was, but hopefully they won't come back. I went out and hung a bunch of new private property\no tresspassing signs the next weekend. Some people......uhhh!
I have convinced myself that one of the great things about hunting public ground is not having this problem. It can be a crisp November 14th, an hour before sunset, you're in your stand a mile from the parking lot.. and at any moment you can expect to see.... a jogger, somebody hiking with four dogs running loose, or a clueless hunter dragging in a noisy ladder stand or any various combinations. You don't have to fret over calling the CPO or figuring out who they are. On the occasion that nobody does show up at a most inconvenient time, you can go home empty handed and still think it was a great day. Sorry to hear it John. You can always invite me down there and I'll keep an eye on the property for you. :D
Write up a bill and give it to him for messing up your food plots. Then, nicely explain trespassing laws. If it continues after that, call the law and let them handle it.
Yeah I here ya about trespassers. I caught this guy on camera. I wrote up a letter to all surrounding neighbors since we live 75 miles away and mailed it to them explaining we didn't appreciate trespassers. This guy was trespassing, wearing brown, and toting a rifle during muzzleloader season. I got a couple of phone calls that said they didn't know who he was. I was just hoping that one of the neighbors knew who he was and let him know not to be on that property again. My stand is directly to the left of this game camera.
That's his story. I'd still file a police report for the damage done. Always good to have a paper trail in this situation, in case his dog gets loose again. I personally think it a bunch of bs. Who the hell goes looking for his dog thru the woods at night on a 4 wheeler thru other people's property.
I had a ton of tresspassing issues 4 - 5 yerars ago. I started having citations issued. It really helped curb it almost overnight. The neighbors must have talked amongst themselves and figured it was not worth 400 a pop for the fine. 1000 if you fight it and lose. Caught one guy early in the season. Swore he made a mistake and would not do it again. a little over a month later I catch him and his two kids on my land. Took license plate and backtags and had three tickets issued. The officer really tried to talk me out of having three issued but I was really angry and demanded the three be issued. I wonder how that converstaion with his wife went 1200 in fines 6 weeks before X mas. ? In all honesty that ended most of my problems. He lived about a mile from the property. I know some of you will think I am a jerk for what I did but I gave him one chance I was not giving him a break. Dean
Man that sucks! I'm having flashbacks right now. I feel for ya, I really do... I actually got kicked off my last lease because I wouldn't allow tresspassing. Everything we did to politely say "No Tresspassing" just made them call more of their buddies. I can barely describe how mad I've been at those scumbags!
Can't imagine the frustration of having tresspassers, especially ones that mess with the land! Ripping up a turnip patch? What a fu***** prick. It's always a tough call on the next choice to make. Just make it with a clear head!
i hate to say this, but, down on our property in AL if you pull somethin like this there is a good chance that sometime during the summer months when its good and dry you'll probably have a forest fire on your land... it can create more problems than it solves depending on where you live...
Well now that you know who it is, you can press charges. Youve got some pretty hefty charges you can press against him. Criminal tresspassing, & destruction of private property for sure. And then whatever else you can come up with.
If you know who it is, I would go to his house and talk to him about it, man to man. Get his side of the story and go from there, see what he says. The man was looking for his dog, at least you don't have his dog constantly on the loose running your property. You just never know, might turn out to be a good thing, neighbors watching each others interests, if not, your the better man for being civil about it. Then go from there.
