Hey those are my stomping grounds! That is terrible to see but completely believable. It's topped 108 three days in a row here now. Hit 110 and set a record a few days back.
That sucks. But, I figured it was going to happen somewhere. It got too hot too fast this year. I hope we have some type of winter this year.
Well shoot you just need to paddle on out there, scoop up some fish, and you got dinner...fish fry anyone?
I think I will head up to the cabin near Rice Lake for a few days. I will soak a few worms, the wife will soak up some sun as her knee surgery heals and we will help out the local economy rather than heating the place up cooking.
Not real sure Matt, but I would think that it's very shallow...I've been there but never fished it. The pic. was sent from a friend who is a state bioligest...."He said" A combo of extreme heat and low water (no rain) caused the oxygen to drop in the lake= dead fish.
We had the last four days 106-107-101-100 and today it was a cool 99. Can't wait for Deer season, hope its cooler.
I've been in Libya with tem's between 115 and 125 every day for over a week....Ill take that over 95 to 105 in KY. any day. IT'S NOT THE SAME!!!!
Josh We have had the fish die up here in some of the shallower lakes due to deep snow cover causing low oxygen but never in the summer like that. Wow !!!! Tim
Sleted to be 99F today with a heat index of 110F. Upper 90's for the next week with no rain in sight. We are 3 inches behine in rainfall for the year. All the grass on the Crabtree Compound looks like old straw and I refuse to use hundreds and hundreds of gallons of water to make more mowing. The Mrs. and I will instead head up state to the lake country for a few days at the cabin.
Yeah oxygen levels can be depleted quickly in shallower lakes that aren't spring/creek fed. That sucks man. Hopefully we get a break in the temps soon before more lakes suffer that same fate. It can take years for lakes to recover from a die off like that.
