I am still thinking the 5th will be the magic day, I got a little ahead of myself still going to sit Saturday but not expecting much.
Pulled the fence and found a scrape right along the side of the plot that is a good sign much like last year.
I was able to get out and hunt Wednesday evening. Did see one young buck cruising across the pond dam in the middle of the cut bean field. It is raining now. Hopefully it stops overnight. Looks like a good wind for the morning hunt. Fingers are crossed.
Well today was my opening day, saw a doe with twin button bucks and a spike that was under 4". Later I had 8 does and fawns on the plot in front of me as it was getting dark. Had a doe bolt from behind thru the brush and grunting behind her, I stood up saw a rack beyond ears with white tips drew and released. I have never had a deer bolt like that after a shot. The arrow was there lit up it sounded like a good hit I watched the nock disappear but the arrow was stuck in the ground at a weird angle I thought I missed. Nope arrow was covered in blood up to the nock. Long track later with spotty blood found him. I could have never found that buck alone I had help and for that I am grateful. I will post pics up tomorrow. Hell of a season took me 1 sit and 2 hours to fill my tag.
Myself and the guys I hunt with have not been seeing much movement so far. With the temperatures being really warm this week I don't know how much activity we are going to see.
Nope he is 10 point 125-130" A P&Y buck, plus I earned him it was a pass thru and he was bolting full throttle didn't find a lot of blood till the end. He ended going about 300 yards after the shot. Tracked in the dark with wet leaves then swamp canary grass back to leafy hardwoods. Not my biggest buck but it keeps the streak going.
Tony I said I would in the morning, Pm me I can text or email you some photos, but I am not signing them.
