Here's the deal... listen up. Some facts you should know about the vaunted Ravens defense. I find them somewhat lucky to be even playing this game.

The Ravens defense has been on the field for 1342 plays this season. That's the most defensive plays by a team in over a decade!

The Ravens have allowed opponents on average to possess the ball 32:54 this season. 3rd worst at time of possession. Combine that with the 49ers run game and ability to possess the ball and it's going to be even uglier.

The Ravens allowed 350 yards of offense on average during the regular season for 17th in the NFL. It was their worst finish in over a decade snapping a string of being the top 10 defense in that time. They lost the time of possession game to Colts, Broncos and by 2 minutes to the Pats.

In the playoffs they are allowing 415 yards per game. 65 yards more than regular season. The defense has been on the field for 85.3 plays per game in post season as opposed to 67.9 plays in the regular season.

The Ravens have allowed at least 398 yards in all three of their playoff games this season. They are the only team in NFL history to win three games in a single postseason when allowing 375 or more yards in each game.

Everyone talks about the Ravens dominate defense! Give a team like 49ers time of possession with their running game and (now) "explosive" offense? Aside from a BIG difference in the turnover department I see the 49ers controlling and dominating this game.

Throw something else in there with all the Flaco talk. There is a QB in the NFL that holds the record for the two LOWEST QBR ratings in history since they started calculating that figure. They are both held by Joe Flaco. This 49er defense against Flaco (who could implode at any moment) and the ball control running game offense with downfield threats? Lights out .... again aside from big TO difference. Ravens have slipped through to the big dance playing not as good defense as everyone makes them out to be. Oh by the way .... try to get a look at the pistol with Kapernick for the 1st time. Good luck.

Boy I so want the 9ers to win. I work in Bmore and have a lot of Ravens fans as friends. But I honestly think (with football being fixed) that Ray Lewis goes out w/ another ring !!!! Boo. But at least my streak of the Redskins (my favorite team) beating the eventual SB champ for the 3rd straight yr win be intact still (Packers, Giants and now Ravens)

 

Want the Ravens to win.... BUT

I think it's not going to be as close as a lot of you think.

I'm thinking it'll be something like 34-17 Niners. But go Ravens. Make me a believer.
