Well it is finally time for the Master's! Turned on the Golf Channel this morning to find "Live from the Masters" on tv. Going to be a nice relaxing weekend of golf! Who do you think is going to win?
Tiger, Dustin Johnson, Louis Oosthuizen, Rickie Fowle. I am going to be out working in the woods all weekend so I won't be able to watch any of it. LOL Not good because I love the Masters but the snow is starting to melt and I can finally walk the woods again.
Have to go with Tiger as the favorite, think Rory may return to contention this week as well. Think Mickelson will start strong and fade fast after the cut. Wish more sporting events were like the Masters. CBS doesn't do much in the way of commercials during it and directv always has about 7 dedicated channels during the majors.
Well, I sure hope that doesn't hit us to the NE of you. I'm a little bit NE of Wausau. I heard they could see bare dirt in the fields as of yesteday. So the 1-4" of additional snow should still allow me to get out there. I hope.
From what I've seen it looks to stay around the Minnesota/Wisconsin border. There is a line around the Twin Cities, that is supposed to get 14+. Oh, and to answer the OP. Tiger Woods, or Bubba Watson... Tiger is getting back to form, and I think Bubba Watson is kind of underrated.
Well the obvious pick is Tiger the way he is playing and seems to have his brain back (and it being Agusta). Players to watch and flying under the radar: Keegan Bradley(could be breakout year). Luke Donald (looking for first major and not far removed from #1 in world). Lee Westwood (always there on Sunday). Ian Poulter (loves the big stage and can handle the moment). Rickie Fowler (can get it out there and go really low at any time). Matt Kuchar (mr. top 10 and due for one) Players I dont' see contending: Dusting Johnson (long but not good enough wedge play). Rory Mcillroy (another hot pick, but i don't think he's mentally in the right place right now). Bubba Watson (defending champ but doesn't really care that much). Steve Stricker (just not long enough). In the end... just too hard to not pick Tiger. Best he's looked physically and mentally in a LONG time.
Freddy just finds a way to be around the top at Agusta! Wont get my hopes up because he wont last the whole way, but good to see him playing well today.
Sergio who? I expect he will fall from page 1 by Sat noon, but nice showing by the kid...nice to see Couples up there as NYB said. I always loved his swing.
Its all relative.... I remember watching a then young up and comer Tiger Woods playing his first round. Course that was back around the time when you could buy the practice round tickets at the gate.
Wow!! Rules officials review Tiger Woods AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Tiger Woods got a bad break when his approach shot to the 15th green bounced off the flagstick and into the water. He may have also taken a bad drop. Masters officials were reviewing on Saturday morning Woods' drop on the 15th hole Friday and whether it was in the proper spot; if it was deemed to be improper, he would be disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard. Because Woods signed his scorecard for a 1-under-par 71 without adding the 1-stroke penalty, he would be disqualified because he put his 6 on a scorecard instead of a 7. Woods had 87 yards to the hole for his third shot and saw his ball hit the flagstick and then roll back off the green and into the water. Under Rule 26-1, Woods had three options at the yellow-staked (not lateral) hazard, which is a pond that fronts the green: • He could have played from a designated drop area, which he chose not to do because he did not like the lie. • He could drop the ball, keeping the point where it last crossed the margin of the water between the hole and the spot on which the ball would be dropped. Since the ball entered the water well left of Woods' position from the fairway, it would seem he did not choose this option -- which would have allowed him to drop on a straight line as far back as he wanted. • Or, he could return to the original spot from which he played, and drop "as nearly as possible,'' from where he played the third shot. This is the option Woods took, and the question appears to be: did Woods drop the ball as near as possible to his original spot? After the round, Woods said: "I went back to where I played it from, but I went 2 yards further back and I took, tried to take 2 yards off the shot of what I felt I hit.'' Is 2 yards close enough? On a CBS-TV highlights show late Friday night, analyst David Feherty showed the replay and questioned the legality of the drop. An Augusta National spokesman would only say Saturday morning that the situation is being reviewed by the Masters rules committee.
This rule violation is turning into a show of its own. Alot of calls for Tiger to dq himself. He is certainly in a no win situation. This is to me the tournament of the year. I would think the 2 shot penalty as opposed to dq by the rules committee was a financial decision as Tiger is the biggest draw on tour. I hope he sticks it out, takes the lead then withdraws on the last hole with the lead.
I don't know, the rules are the rules. They didn't make an exception because it was Tiger. The rule was modified before any of this came about and allows for a non DQ penalty. I wouldn't withdraw, it's not like this was a major infraction where he knowingly tried to deceive his score card. I'd take the same position whether it was Tiger or Michelle Wei. And to think, all the controversy was about Guan being penalized a stroke for slow play.
