I guess it's just human nature for folks to approve of anything that benefits them, personally. People will look over faults and character flaws of politicians.......if that person being in power benefits them.

A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.

Well, it remains to be seen how long WI dems will stay pissed off whether the union busting was a good move or not and whether it seriously affect elections for state congress and the gov.

I guess that is why the extremely rich are supporting the people they support. If I were extremely rich I would probably do the same thing.

I have to admit, the wi dems little shenanigans to IL was effective. It will probably be the norm from here on out for all politicians to play that little game when they don't get what they want.

From now on, it will be "screw power to the people", to "whoever is the most organized wins." Just look at CA on gay marriage. Even put it on the ballot, gays still got what they wanted. Just shop your idealogy to a federal judge that will vote the way you want.

Could be. It's kinda like buying a hot (stolen) bow.......or hiring calipari to coach your univ.'s basketball team. There's "right".....and there's selling your soul.

I don't really understand why anyone would ever side with the far right side or the far left.

The only way things will get fixed is if the morons in govt. from either side start working together.

Why would any American side with the Republicans.. they only want your dollar.. and why would any American side with the Dems.. they only want your liberty.

I've read this thread like 3 times now.. trying to figure out what gmmat and bigcountry were reading into Germ's posts. I read nothing that implied anything that these two gents were even perceiving. But they did.. simply because they felt threatened by Germ's more moderate tone. (not a lot more moderate.. but definitely more than these two).

So.. it goes without saying that these two men are exactly what I was talking about in the first statement of this post.

We get it.. you're clearly only interested in the far right side.. and I'm sure a great deal here don't care what you state any longer because you've lost all credibility because you so clearly have your own agenda.

Too many believe there is only one way.. and it's theirs.

Which is exactly what is wrong in the US government today. That.. and about a 14.4 trillion dollar deficit.

Good post Duke. I am a far right person, but I understand not everyone agrees with my way of thinking.I actually like the make up of congress right now, it is never a good thing in my opinion to have one party control both houses and the white house, granted I would rather have a conservative president(heck at least one that was born in the us). The art of compromise is dead on both sides. All the divisiveness (which I have been apart of as well) is destroying this country I love. as the father of two young children I am horrified for their future.

    Thanks dmen.

I too often favor the right side.. but I also realize we have serious problems right now and I'm tired of all the finger pointing from both sides.

Good to see you do as well.

What a purely uneducated and cowardly response. So, you know when I feel "threatened"? Please.

What I side with is fiscal responsibility. I feel "threatened" (and rightfully so) when people think it's idealogically "OK" to dip into one man's pocket.....to pay another man.

There hasn't been a President since R. Reagan who understood fiscal responsibility. I haven't been represented (my political views), since he left office.

I don't give two ****s what any individual politician can do for ME, if it weakens America.

As person who is following this thread purely for the entertainment value, I'd humbly ask "how so"?

Totally agree with this though. Just not sure how we get to that point as Americans, we've been trained to borrow.

It's uneducated.....because I'll clearly and concisely give you my views if you'll ask....instead of giving an uneducated "guess".

It's cowardly, because the entire post is taking a backhanded shot at a couple of us, based purely on a circular argument.

Threatened by Germ's views on this (or any) subject? Please.

So Regan had balance budgets each year?

He increase the debt by 1.9 trillion. Is this what some call fiscal responsibility?

    Jeff peek my interest

    Since 1975 to 2005
Dem presidents have increased the debt 4.2%
Rep presidents have increased the debt 36.4%

GDP has gone up 10.7 with rep presidents
    With the dem presidents 12.7

Spending has gone up 12.1% with rep presidents
    With dem presidents 9.9%

I am a little shocked by those numbers.

This one will really shock you, then.

Barack Obama has spent more money than every president from George Washington......thru GHWB.............................................COMBINED.

Post me up some links to your figures. They don't compute.

Gary....your political views are all self-serving. You want those in office who can do for YOU.....and forget what that does to the rest of the country. I don't find that ideology patriotic. Sorry.

First did you actually read it three times? Okie dokie, strange, but whatever.

Second, Germ cracks me up and entertains me (not sure thats threatening to anyone) because he tries to play this neutral tone. But then says he sent support money to a left canidate. Now, for me, thats far left. I don't send a dime to either side. Hense moderate. Germ sends support money to far left. Thats far left. Not hard to figure out duke. But if you actually read three times and can't, then no one can really carry on an intelligent conversation with you.

Now, after seeing your responses about your feelings about unions and such, a simular statement could be made about you. Don't you think. We get it, your only interested in left leaning union type of interests and I'm sure a great deal here don't care what you state any longer because you've lost all credibility because you so clearly have your own agenda. This could be a fair statement about my friend Joe, you and Germ.

Not sure you figured it out, maybe you can look it up on the internet, but Reagan died not so long ago. Obama is our current president. The country is facing issues now, the soviet union has been broken up. Those were the problems we faced then.

Go on the internet and look it up.

so, I am curious where all the folks are who were yelling "historic", and Wi people have spoken.

I thought WI was almost totally in support of the union's cause? Did all the unions have a meeting and forget to vote?

I would say the union supporters were more militant about voting this vote, hense, this is the most support they have. Where conservative voters probably were more lax as usual, and there number is much greater than even this.
