O.M. God. This is the first I'm hearing of this.

Its like these kids are human debris with no guilt or shame.

It's the first I've heard of it also. I can't imagine what my Dad would have done to me if he'd found out that I'd done something like this.

It never would have happened, though. I was taught to respect everyone, anyone in authority and especially my elders. The price for disrespect was swift and severe. I know that if the world had more discipline like that then it would be a better place.

Kids these days aren't afraid of the consequences of their actions. We have an entire generation of "time out" parents. What's to be afraid of? Being grounded? Nah. How about having your butt whipped so bad you need first aid afterwards? That's a consequence to be afraid of.

I saw this on the news last night and was disgusted. If I ever caught one of my kids acting like that they would never see daylight again.

Exactly this. It's unfortunate, but kids need :bash: at times.

Unfortunately, children are taught at school that if their parents spank them, they can have the parents arrested for child abuse. Too many parents don't know how to discipline their children and delinquents think they can get away with anything. My daughter came home from middle school one day and told me that if I ever spanked her she would have me arrested. Later that evening, she threw and broke a drinking glass because her mother made her mad. I spanked her, verbally castigated her, and then handed her the phone. As she looked at the phone contemplating her next move, I told her that if she made that call, she better have someplace to live, because it would not be under my roof ever again. That was the end of that. I think my son must have taken notes as I never had to deal with this with him.

And as far as the parent apologizing, Why was the kid not there apologizing along with BOTH parents?

You know it's not just about spanking, I do not need to spank any of my kids to teach them to respect adults. It's parenting 101 folks.
Parents put your iPhone down and spend some time with your kids. Most kids who act out are asking for help, they are asking for their parents to be parents.
It's really not that hard to raise a kid who respects adults, it's not rocket sciences.

    Respect

I have to agree with on this one. Although I am all for spanking a child it is not always a necessity or necessary to get your point across..

Of course it's not always a necessity nor is it always necessary to get your point across. I can guarantee you, though, that my Dad got his point across VERY clearly.
