Bow season ended tonight. Pulled a stalk on a group of does and 3 bucks. One was pretty nice... 4x5... mid 130's. I got a head of them and the buck came by at 40 yards with the rest of the herd. That just too far for me being dressed heavy and carry a pack and stool. The real sad part... I was planning on sitting in this one spot before I changed my mind to stalk them. Yep... you guessed it. He walk right by the spot as I was following them on the way back to the truck. Would have been a 15 yard shot. I think the deer gods hate me !!! Talk about rubbing it in my face !!! Tyler could have shot a forky and a fawn. Tim
How many times Tim I've done that Is beyond me. Ticks me off every time It happens but I seem to not learn from It enough. You know that old saying "go with your 1st Impression". Why doesn't a person do that then? Lol!! **** happens they say!! :D Enjoyed your story's this year Tim with your nice bucks, damn near a few different times you scored. Best of luck shed hunting, like you need It.
I've been playing musical stands the last couple of weeks with them too. Can't seem to be in the right one when they decide to walk by it. Trying to play the wind puts me in the wrong tree.
Dang it Tim! I was sure pulling for you to get a good crack at a late season bruiser, oh well thats just one more buck you will probably pick the sheds up to. Its been great visiting all season and following you along on your endeavors. You have had a quite the season, some unreal encounters, and I for one know how tough it is out there hunting those bucks off the ground day in and out. I know what efforts you go to to get into places and out without being detected. Hats off to you big fella. oh and well I just have to say this... U SHOULD HAVE DRILLED THAT FREEGING BIG 4x4 when you let him walk ! LOL Kill 'em shedding bud, I can't wait to start seeing pix of ND sheds lying in the snow!
You would have to bring the old 4x4 up. I was trying not to regret that !!! LOL I was thinking about that on the way back to the truck tonight. If I would have shot him and not passed... I wouldn't have gotten to hunt in bitterly cold temps... bust through nasty cattail sloughs full of snow... plow through waist deep snow banks that late season bowhunting is notorious for. Throw in flustration, desperation and all the highs/lows. Frost bit fingers and toes. To be humbled once again. The old 4 pt or late season bowhunting ?? What was I thinking ?? You know what is sad??? I'll probably do it again next year. Go big or go home and eat a tag. Guess what is for dinner tomorrow ?? Yummy... not !!!! Thank God next year is far off so I can forget the taste of tag soup !! Tim
You arnt the only one eating tag soup bro. Was it as cold there as it was here this weekend. I had -35 and -29 sat and sun. If u hunted in that crap you are more of a man or a idiot than I! Now get in that ford and come over here for dome fishin.
Tim my season is also done and look forward to next year already. I plan on going old school this coming fall stay tuned. T
Condolences Tim! Sucks when you go hard at it for your entire season and don't have the results you were hoping for.I admire your effort and perseverence.
