Tonight could have only been better with a buck in the back of the truck but I will take what I got. Started out with a doe and her fawns not long after getting in the stand. about and hour later I hear movement back up the valley from my stand. Instant thought was SHOOTER!!. He was at about 80 yrds. I glass him for about 2 min. 160 class 9 pt. Heavy, wide and tall. As I am watching him I catch movement behind him. Its a 140 class 10 pt. They were just hanging out together. I grunted and got no response from either of them. They just walked off. Half hour later. Hear movement. A 3 1/2 yr old 10 pt that is all busted up. Look freshly busted up but never heard any fighting. He proceeded to make a scrape about 30 yrds out then came in to feed in the food plots. I could go on and on but long story a little shorter I saw 8 different bucks this evening. THey were all making scrapes and rubs. THen all the sudden it happened!! WHat sounded like a to the death fight broke out. I dont know who it was because it was dark by this time but it lasted for 10 min. I cant wait to see what the woods looks like in the daylight. One of the best hunts I have ever had and I didnt even harvest a deer!! How was everyone elses Halloween??

Man does that sound exciting, wow!! Nothing better then seeing where 2 bucks went at It good, been about 10 years since I've saw that In a woods.

As for my Halloween hunt, It was a good one!! I sat on the stand that I wounded the big boy from, 2nd sit of the year on this stand. So far It's proved nothing but good results. Saw 3 different bucks and 9 doe's and fawns. 2 of the bucks were 1.5 year olds, both were chasing doe's constantly the last 1.5 hours tonight. Right as I was going to get down I heard a grunt and and some thrashing going on south of me 40 yards or so. I'm guessing he was either making a scrape or making a rub or both. He came by me at about 18 yards. I could see the body just fine but the rack was tougher to make out. I know he wasn't the same buck I wounded, he wasn't wide enough and not quite as tall. He had some decent length from the looks of It, probably a 130" or so buck and I'm thinking he's a 3.5 year old going by the size of his body. He's an above average 3.5 for my area, most 3.5's here go 120" give or take. Not sure If It was even legal shooting time, I elected not to shoot being I wasn't 100% positive on his size of rack. His body was easy to see though, I easily could've shot. I have a mock scrape set up here where I'm hunting with a camera aimed at It, the SOB took the trail where the last doe had walked otherwise he would've walked right In front of the camera. He missed the camera by about 10 feet. Would've been neat to show you guys the buck, oh well I guess.

    Same here.
I took my 11yo son out M/L hunting yesterday morning. We stayed until 11 and didn't see squat from the stand. Couple that with 74 degree temps, I opted to go trick or treating with my kids last night. I sure hope it picks up soon...hearing all these great stories is killing me!

Not much happened this morning. Had a buck chasing a couple does on the ridge to the north of me. When I went to glass him to see how big he was I fogged up my binos. He was long gone by time I got them cleared off. Ended up with 2 more does coming by. Had full intintions in smoking one but they didnt cooperate.
This evening the action took a while to start. Had a 4 pt come in. Then out steps a 2 yr old 8 pt with big split brows. They fed around in the food plot for a while then disappeared into the brush. A doe showed up and in a matter of seconds both the bucks were all over her. THey chased her around and both hit the scrape I watched get wallered out last night. 1/2 hr later a buck I named "Brows" (for obvious reasons) came in following a doe. Hes a 3 yr old 8 pt with about 8" brows and probably wont ever amount to much. Rest of his tines are pretty short but his main beams are long. He also fed around in the food plot after the doe left him and eventually took back up the trail of his doe. I cant wait until they start chasing good. You never know what will show up!!
