From the sign I'm seeing (scrapes/rubs) the pre-rut is getting under way. I'll be doing dark to dark hunts from here on in until I kill a buck! I have this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to hunt for starters. Anybody else sitting all day yet?

Work doesn't allow for it. One buck was stinking up the area yesterday evening, and one was following a doe, nose to the ground, yesterday. Warms temps through the middle of the week...will be out Wed through Sat.

I wish you guys the best of luck but I think your a little crazy. A guys got to be careful not to burn himself and his stands out before things really get good. I have been seeing scrapes and rubs since the 1st week of September, but we are still a good week and a half before the mid day movement starts in my area. At this point, I am still hunting lightly around the edges. Next weekend I'm gonna make my first aggressive move of the season, cant wait!

I sat dark to dark this past sat. Wasn't much goin on. Had a great night out on Wednesday and it got me excited. I'd like the wind forecast to change for Saturday's wind, but I'll likely be out all day again.

Friday afternoon I saw a small buck and a doe out in a cut bean field around 3 P.M. Later that night I let a nice 2.5 year old 8 pointer walk.

Tonight, I had a small 5 point respond to rattling, and while driving around the farm, I noticed several scrapes and rubs along the field edges.

All of this in nearly 80 degree weather. Next weeks cold front should really get things rocking here in Illinois!

I'm chewing at the bit for sure. I have about 4 days of work left then I'm hunting as much as I want. I've only been out twice and I did drop a doe. Now I'm after a biggun.

Let a little guy walk the other day. Got him on video at 6 yards for over an hour, feeding and bedding. He was downwind the entire time, and had no idea I was there.

I had them patterned through the corn pretty well, but they finally cut it on Friday, so things are slowly getting back to normal. Makes getting out at dusk a challenge now. Spooked 3 off the fields tonight, two just bounded off, and the third decided to blow at me for 15 minutes. I grabbed my grunt tube and tried to calm her/him down, but I was pegged. Letting it cool off until next weekend.

Tues, Wed, Thurs will be all day sits this week, and the week after will be all day sits Tues Wed Thurs Fri. That is unless I get a nice buck this week :) Was going to shoot the first doe that walked in front of me, but now I am only going to shoot a yearling... keep that breeding doe bringing in the bucks. :)

Where are good places to hunt all day? I have a stand on a flat where 4 ridges come together. I have one about 150 yrds down the ridge from the flat in a saddle that has 5-6 different trails going through it and that is where I have gotten the majority of my pics this year. I also have one at the base of a big bowl that is somewhat brushy and has a growing up clear cut on the neighbors about 200-300 yards away. Do any of these sound like good places to try all day sits?
    Thanks!

I really don't see how yall do that, all day sits. I can't sit still that long. I don't mind stayin in the woods all day, hunt in the morning, walk around a bit, then hunt the evening, but sitting all day, I couldn't. Good luck to yall, I'm sure it pays off.
