I'm going to hang onto it until I confirm whether I like the standard version better or not. I'm a gear hoarder!
I went cheap 2 years ago and got the hawk set. Unless you’re a small framed guy, don’t do it. I’m 6’2 230ish. It doesn’t have any adjustments in the seat of the saddle so it pinches your hips. I went that route because I got it for $80 on midway. I ended up loosening the waist straps and basically sit on top of it while in the tree. I’ll upgrade to a Tethrd next season once we get my wife thru her nurse practitioner program. New hunting gear is pretty low on our budget. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
We have a mix of 2-man ladder stands (great for hunting with my kids, and my 74yo father prefers them). Hanging stands — I’ve found the Muddy XL to be my favorite conbo of price (value) and comfort. And for my mobile setup, using XOP stand with Hawk sticks. Also have 1 redneck blind, a homemade blind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I made my own saddle a few years ago. I use it with stands at home I have helium sticks for at camp. I have platform's I made for preset then carry sticks to. My season starts mid Sept for doe only at home. Regular season is Oct 1 everywhere in my zone.
1. I'm done waiting. 2. What sort of hoarder would I be if I didn't have a Predator, Predator XL AND Carbon platform?? 3. I still have an OOAL Ridge Runner packed away in my garage somewhere.
I guess I'm going to stay a hold out on the saddle club. I see the advantages, but I'll be an old man and stick with what has worked, while yelling at the sky.
I think if you own there entire line up, you automatically become fan boy status and not a horder! Haha I'm just as bad, I own 4 saddles from aerohunter and only use 1 of them. But I did sell one, so down to 3. To bad they closed down, love there saddle. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I have two Aerohunter saddles as well. I forget the exact models, but my first one had solid material for the entire saddle instead of mesh. I made the mistake of hiking in on a warm afternoon with that thing on and had the worst swass of my life for about 3 hours that night.
I know what you mean. All I buy now is mesh saddles. A must have in early season. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Send the OOAL Ridge Runner and one of those Aerohunter saddles to @virginiashadow. He has been talking trying the saddle game for a couple of years. But, the poor guy can't afford to buy in on that Cabela's theft prevention salary. I have a couple of extra tether's I can throw in.
He really needs a saddle for the type of hunting he does. I should dig through my stash and see what exactly I have. I probably have enough stuff for him. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Two teens and a soon to be 21 year old have me ptsd $ wise. Lol. Ill buy one if I don't have 55 working parts and it's relatively easy to set up.
August 15th here in SC. Then public opens on September 15th. Can't wait to get in a stand. Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk
I got you covered! Just check your PMs. On a related note, I deployed six whole trail cameras this weekend! It's a miracle. I also broadcast some seed into my overgrown food plots and then killed the vegetation with gly, so I'm hoping it dies, falls on the seeds and it all germinates. Poor man's food plots at their finest! The down side is that the properties where I put cameras kinda suck, and the pics are more of a disappointment than anything. Sometimes it's nice to not know.
I have an XOP Edge platform that is yours for the cost of shipping if you want it? it's a bit heavy (5 pounds) but solid as a mofo on the tree. I also have my modded Summit viper platform/climber if you're interested in that for the cost of shipping. It is structurally modded with grade 8 bolts and held my fat a$$ (250 with no gear, probably closer to 275 pounds with gear) for dozens and dozens of hunts with no issues. I too use an AeroHunter Kestrel Flex. It was the only saddle I tried 3 years ago, and haven't had the desire to try anything else.
That is very generous Joe but I've got something lined up! You all are awesome...been so helpful to me over the years.
