well, I have passed on 2 different bucks in th epast 2 nights on different properties...these guys were litlle, but my brother has seen a shooter the past 3 sits...just out of rage...tonight he saw a buck neither of us have seen, a dandy 10 pt with tall 10-11" tines and about 20" inside spread..I hope it's just a matter of time...there are currently 3 shooters in this property, but man they are slick.

I've let you down on one of your previous prediction's once already Gary. Hopefully this time It will different and you damn right I am due!!

    Thank you. :)

I'd give anything to have another chance at my buck I should've had earlier this season. Snow Is here, and so Is the cold weather. Temps will be below zero and you know deer will be moving. As soon as this winter storm brakes I'll be heading back out. 40+ mph winds for tomorrow, not looking good for then but the next day I'll be out.

I won't be hanging a buck this season unless it goes at least 140. I know where a couple qualifiers hang out but whether they show up when I am there is anybody's guess.

I have off work from Dec 23rd to Jan 2. I will be out with one doe tag and my lonely buck tag. I have some turnipts planted precisely for this purpose. I will be out most every day I can.

Passing up bucks ?? Me ?? LOL As long as the buck grosses 176 so I can beat buckeye in our little challenge... I promise not to pass !! :)

Seriously not sure what late season has in store for me. Rumor has it Flyers was shot besides the Big 4. We had a bunch of poaching going on where the Old 4 pt is hanging so I don't even know if he is a live. Hope he is but time will tell.

With that said... I still think late season can be very good to Tyler and I. Like Ryan said... we do have good food sources to hunt. This weekend is going to be bitterly cold so the deer will be moving and hopefully we can stay warm enough to keep hunting.

Remember the big 5x5 rack and skull we found last spring ?? Tyler had also found a big 5 pt shed a couple years ago in that area if you remember that. I got permission to hunt that area. We usually just get to shed hunt it. I think we will do some snooping and hunting in there this weekend. I'll give you a shout this weekend if the area has potential. I wish we would have showed you the area when you were here. I think you would have like it. It's off the beaten path and road hunters can't get close to it. :)

Good luck to your hunting. I've got high hopes for you, TeeJay and Shultzy in shooting a buck this year yet.

I finally got a decent buck to give me shot opportunity yesterday. He was eating acorns and put his head behind a stump.. I drew and a squirrel next to me freaked out, causing the buck to jump and look around. The buck didn't look at me and he was now quartering away at 26 yards. So I settled my pin on him and shot. The buck exploded off at the shot and my arrow looked like it hit high in the hip. :( :( Almost no penetration and following his footprints for over 300 yards.. we didn't even a thimble full of blood.

Searched half the night and most of today with nothing to show for it 'cept some blisters and rain soaked gear. I doubt I killed him but I won't know unless he's seen, shot again or found. In retrospect, my bow is too slow to try and make a 26 yard shot on a high strung, alert deer.

I'm so dejected right now I'm not sure I'll even shoot at another buck this season.

..wimper.. Remind me again about how this bowhunting is supposed to be fun?

Good luck big fella, man I've been thinking about ya with all this cold weather out here the past few days.. been below zero here the past few nights and I told Dee, "this is just getting into Tim's comfort zone of temps for late season!"

I may pull a cat out of my hat as well, I have some really great stands to hunt that are definately buck bedding/shedding areas for this time of year..

I don't think we broke 0 today. Talking 10 - 15 below for this weekend for highs. I think it will go a bit past my comfort zone. I'm a 10 - 35 degree comfort zone kind of guy !! LOL

I will be loading up with hand/foot heat packs this weekend.

    I will layer heavy !!!

If I can keep my hands warm... I am golden. That is my weak point. :(

Sorry Christine, hopefully you will get another opportunity! Good luck to everyone still going at it.
I am having to get far off the beaten path to find deer home.I anticipate with pressure dropping off they will gravitate back in to their earlier haunts.
