I tell ya guys when Will calls and offers advice don't listen, hang up immediately and block his number:p

I was in a delima last week and my trip to Colorado this fall was in jeopady, I have to drive 100 miles a day to get to work and back and was putting $60 of gas in the truck every 3 days with that and other bills rolling in there was no way I could pay for the trip let alone the either sex Elk tag.

So I posted in the thread about the hunt that I might not be able to go.

The next day Will calls me now why I did not just hang up I don't know.

Will suggested that I buy a motor cycle to get to and from work as they are dirt cheap to run.

Well he stirred the bug in me to get another bike, it's been about 10 years since I have riden one and to be honest I did miss the freedom of riding.

So on my days off last week off I went to dealers looking for a cheap mode of transport, all I found out is that cheap bikes are just that cheap and in need of major repairs, so I cruised the classifieds in the news papers unfortunately no luck there either. Next step was to go on-line I came across a web site called Chopper Exchange, I put my zip code into the search box and it gave me a number of bikes in a 50 mile radius of my house.

Of course any good motor cycle was well and truely out of my price range or should I say the price range I wanted to spend.

Then I clicked on one link and what I saw just blew me away so a quick call to the owner to find out if the bike was still for sale, it was. So next step was to call my bank manager to see if they would give me a loan in these tough economic times to my surprise he said Russell you are a valued customer of the bank and have never failed to repay previous loans or made a late payment, come down and sign the papers.

So another call to the owner to ask if he would come down on the price which BTW was already a great price, he agreed to lower the price $100, I know it's not much but hey a $100 is still $100 in this country.

So off I go to the bank sign the papers get the check and head off to look at the bike.

Just one look at the bike and I could tell that this thing had never been ridden in the rain and alsway stored in a garage;)

The owner told me he had not started it for a month and was not sure if it would fire straight up or not, he pulls out the choke hits the starter and this thing comes alive, he lets it warm up for a few minutes and pushes the choke back in and now it's just purring away.

So we done the deal without me even taking it for a test ride, go get the title and rego transfeered into my name, head back to his house to get my new ride and head back home.

Anyway here is my new ride that I really do feel like I stole from this guy.

Here is a pic of the only thing I have found wrong with the bike.

She's a 05 model and had just under 8k on the clock, he gave me the full service history of the bike including the original sales reciept.

The wind shield was brand new we took it out of the box and had to take the paper of the plexie glass, it also came with a new battery and new cover. She has the screaming eagle pipes, custom gell seat, engine guard and padded back rest and leather pouch.

I am not going to say what I paid for the bike but will say the same model I seen at dealers with over 20k on the clock where from $1,400 to $2,000 more expensive.

No matter how much I paid for her the smile on my face as I cruise down the highway.

    PRICELESS:D

You're just like my wife Russell! Everything she buys is always my fault too!

I've done the math: Before....$20/day or $400/ month. Now....$3/day or $60/month. That's a $340/month savings. Bike payment and insurance I figure will run you about $200/month. That means $140/month stays in the bank. Mate, when your riding her, make sure you keep a set of eyes in the back of your head. Slow and easy wins the race.

    Will,
Do not call me, and I won't end up divorced!!!

Thanks in advance, because I'm not sure a new bike would save me enough to pay for a divorce and alimony and child support, regardless of how much I might like to have one....:D

Looks like a nice ride, Russ, enjoy it and be careful. Colorado...Here YOU come!!!!

Sweet, Russ... before my company splurged on company cars for us, I picked up a cruiser last year as well, complete with saddlebags and all... wrapped my laptop up in a towel, stuck samples in the other side, and enjoyed going to see my hospitals just a little more. :)

Actually it's now closer to $6 a day as premium gas is about 3 bucks a gallon;)

Brocket will have nothing to fear anymore. The 80 - 90 year old women won't lock there doors any more. Kids will be playing in the street again and in the way. No more outdoor church services ruined by the mighty rumble. Damn dude you are killing me !!! It was the most excitement this little town had when you came rolling in. :(

Nice bike. Those 1200's can go too. I had an '08 that the GF rode. It got 3x the gas mileage of my truck. Enjoy.
