I started a thread over on HNI about how I'm all but through (I'll read threads/posts) with the site. I menioned my inability to "log in", the need to double click on many things, ect. And, I've been noticing a lot of sensoring/deleting, like was done to my last thread. All I did was mention FACTS, not necessarily my opinion, about what's going on there. If they didn't like where I posted my thread, it should have been moved, not deleted. I JUST started seeing a lot of this lately.

It's a shame because I was on there for going on 5 years. It's going to take quite a bit of time for me to gain my "monster non-typical" status again. lol

EI....if you don't shoot a BT (and even if you DO), you're in for a rude awakening on HNI. I've never seen anything on internet hunting forums to match it.

It's appalling.....and an insult to the collective intelligence on the boards.

Objectivity has fallen to the wayside on that forum.

AT is still, by far & away the worst I've ever seen, and consequently why I don't go there anymore.

I like to go there because some of the Turkey Forum members are second to none, but most of the site is just like AT now. I log on to AT from time to time as well, the classifieds and health forums are pretty good. I worry sometimes that as this site grows some of that crap will happen, the smaller size keeps a family type atmosphere, but I also understand the the more people we have the better the BH.C store and site will do for the guys who run it as well. I think the core group here will keep it clean.

That's a fact! I felt like I was in Iran. You know, how they shut off the internet when it fits their needs? Jeff, you know me well enough to know I'll debate something with a reasonable effort if I see a reason/need, but I don't go out of my way to jump on somebody. All I did was mention my displeasure/frustration with the site and my thread was deleted instead of moved.

Rybo, what you said about AT is spot on!! I went there (actually maybe even joined way back when) to read up on THAT BT thread, and what I was reading made me just shake my head. And I thought there were attacks on HNI.;)

I registered on this site in '08, but continued to use HNI as my "main squeeze". I should have just kept my focus on this site from jump street. This is where everybody who's anybody, wound up anyway. Live and learn!:D

HNI works fine for me, but i also dislike the adds, and some of the people.

Rob/Christine, dont ban me for what i say here :D

HNI is a great place, and i like there Trail Camera forums because they see more action then the ones here do, but im starting to dislike the animosity that goes on there and at AT. Ive met more then half of the people who regularly conversate on this website, which makes all the difference. I dont know barely anybody left still at HNI.

Yes Caleb, there WAS a time when I felt the same way, but no longer. There HAS to be somebody new in there running the "show" now. I had a couple of posts deleted that wouldn't have been before. They were not out of line either. Pehaps just not part of their agenda?;)

Like I mentioned before, I'll still look at treads/posts and check the trail cam forum. I can still learn from that site without having to sleep with anybody.:D

Yeah, that site ain't what it used to be. Never will be again, nor do I think I'll ever find one like it once was. Too many great guys run off by ankle biters. And they don't post here either. Shame a few ruin it for everyone. Seems the same names appear in every downhill thread. Same reason I don't post much.

And, is this the site where we get to come and air our dirty laundry? That sounds like fun. If a recent trend continues, I'm going to open the fault. [IMG]

It's not that there's somebody new there, running the show. It's more of who's NOT there (I agree with the quoted portion).....and what's allowed to transpire.

It seems that every few weeks or so we get a thread something like this. All I can say is "that place" is what it is now and this place is what it is. Glad you like it here better, as there are a great bunch of guys & ladies here that respect each other, for the most part. I agree with Rob, it is unfortunate that some of the members didn't make the move....we lost some great people who I liked reading responses from.

This site will grow rapidly and there will be a lot of new members, its inevitable. I am a firm believer that with that growth there will be little negativity allowed in. I'm not talking by us moderators, but by the great people who are here.

No and no. Myself and the other moderators here do little moderating, except for the occasional spammer and threads about beavers. Hopefully that trend can continue, but it will take help from you guys not letting it happen and feeding it.

Carry on and keep this a positive site.

Exactly! History repeats itself with forums it seems. Although I wasn't around AT in it's beginning, I've heard from long-timers that it used to be something similar to what this site is now and was in it's beginning. I hear the same thing about HNI. What happened? Growth. It's inevitable.

No, Jeff, but it started small (like this site). As more and more people join, you add more and more personality's you throw into the mix, and the greater likelihood of introducing a few hot heads, or members who want to flex their internet muscles, and you start getting conflict. The more conflict, and the more tiresome it becomes reading threads that go for 10 pages of nothing but grown "men," bickering like children. People who actually want to use the forums to share information/stories lose interest, and move on.

Maybe I'm naive, but I hope history doesn't repeat itself here......as it doesn't have to. Once negativity is allowed in, by the mods and members alike, it grows like wildfire. Whether or not that happens is more up to the members than it is the mods or owners.

What I find funny is that nearly 99% of the negativity comes from the bow threads. Seriously, who gives a flyin **** what you or the next guy shoots? It does not make you a better hunter.....then again, its easier to bash someone else about their equiptment than it is to become a better hunter. Kind of a common theme with today's society and internet tough guys.

I really find this thread funny. And what happened to HNI was caused by many complaining about it. Absolutely halarious. Pots calling the kettle black all around. And why is everyone that left HNI still complaing about it? As far as the deleted thread over there. We used to have those all the time.... depending on who you were. Usually a ban went along with it. That killed HNI. You were a groupy or you weren't. A lot of really good folks were eliminated.... of course with a lot of really bad ones. LOL

I agree, Dan. Bow threads inevitably turn out like Ford/Chevy/Dodge threads.:D

I also hope it doesn't repeat itself, Dan. So far, this is by far the BEST forum I've experienced (and not just hunting related).

Very very true.... back when I joined HNI, there was just a "fun" atmosphere. Guys weren't discussing tactics, strategies, and age class structure... guys were simply talking about hunting as if they were sitting around a campfire with their buddies. A few rash decisions later and alot of that core group who made that site what it was were gone, it never recovered to what it was!

I love this site, but I do miss the days where guys just talked about hunting. I guess it is more the time we are living in, but everything now is so over analyzed (age class, strategies, herd dynamics, core areas, ect) that for me... it just takes away from the fun of talking about hunting with others!
