Nice temps for once. Got out a bit later than I hoped, but 45 min or so before sunrise I was setup and quiet. I brought a little estrus scent with me this morning to see if the time had started. I let loose with a few bleets and a few grunts. Not five min later I was surrounded! A total of 5 deer came in from different directions. Of the five I got a good look at three. All does, and they each presented a shot at 10-20 yards. I'm not sure what the other two were, but they came in as a pair so I assume does as well. The last of the three decided to bed down about 30 yards from me. I had to throw a stick to get out of the woods unnoticed. The closest of the three walked at 10 yards for a good five minutes. She was down wind so I guess my scent control is working. I'm passing on does until late season. I also saw 9 turkeys about 50 yards away. I'd still be in stand had I worn wind gear. Was dead when I got in the tree, but the wind eventually came in and blew me down. Wind gear is out and ready now. I'm hitting the afternoon early. Going to sit in one of the hot stands and see if I can get a peak at some antlers. All-in-all I had a great morning sit!

Got called away, not going to be able to hunt this afternoon. Wed of the coming week looks promising with highs in the mid 50s. Hopefully I'll get to post more pictures in the scorebook soon!

Glad you had a great hunt!! For that reason I always wear my wind gear! nothing like having a great day only to be ruined by being a little too cold!
