I agree, just getting within bow range on elk is an accomplishment for most archers, pulling off the shot an even bigger accomplishment. I hunt one of the "better" units in Idaho (OTC) and archery success rates on "any elk" are 21%, <15% on "any bull", and < 3% on bulls 6 pt or bigger. I've been incredibly "lucky" to have been in to elk on my archery hunts in 2012 and 2014 killing in 2014 and missing in 2012 on an incredible 5x5. I am obsessed and can't wait to get back out there.
