All you can do is shake your head in disbelief. It wasn't this dumbass's negligence in leaving a loaded gun under the front seat OR his negligence in not seat belting his child OR his negligence in leaving a loaded gun where a 3 year old could access it. It is Glock's negligence in having enough safetys on the guin to prevent complete dumbasses like this one from hurting themselves or others. Glock should be allowed to sue him for misusing their firearm. I cannot believe this guy was a cop.

This is what you get with liberal judges appointed by liberals.

The best safety is to not leave a round in the chamber. I highly doubt the 3yo could have cocked a round into the chamber.

No problem, glad I could help. Let me know if you want more info about the case and the long long list of Plantiffs and Appellants or if you want to read the ruling.

The guy is going to lose. It may have advanced on technical grounds but it is weak as hell.

I hate when people can never take the blame that they F'd up, they allways have to pawn it off on someone else. This dude is retarded, what if that kid shot himself. A cop should no proper gun control, I have no problem carrying a loaded weapon I do it damn near every day, but whenever I put a gun in a place someone may pick it up and look at it or hand it to someone to check out. I physically check the chamber and remove the magazine infront of them so they and I know it is clear and no accident's will happen. I hope glock destroys this guy.

"After reviewing evidence presented by Chavez’s lawyers, the court found that a grip safety “would minimize the risk of accidental discharge without undermining performance.”"

Sorry to tell the court, but having a grip safety on a combat ready handgun DOES undermine performance. Most agencies mandate a locking holster that acts as a "grip safety", meaning you have to depress the holster locking mechanism before the handgun and trigger can even be accessed. If the guy even just had his Glock 21 in a locking holster, the 3 year old kid would not have been able to access the gun. Obviously the guy left the gun out of his holster and unsecured. I am really surprised the police officer was not charged with allowing his 3 year old to access his gun.

This S&W M&P I just bought is available with an internal lock, magazine disconnect safety and an external manual safety (in addition to the trigger safety that is standard).

    Sheesh.

(I opted to get one without all the silly optional safeties)

The guy did something incredibly stupid and he's lucky it wasn't his kid or some innocent person that was shot.
