I doesn't really suck. I've been at 2 grouse hunting camps. Doing stuff at home. Etc. I have land with a cabin Tony.
I watched all your updates ...for some reason I thought you were going to live there ...I was off and on during that time, Brad ...my bad
I'm starting to see it up at my place too. Been up here since Sept 20th and have off work until Dec 2nd. :-) Sent from my Galaxy S3 and Tapatalk 2
Maybe someday. I still have to work for a living........ Unlike Greg. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Greg rolled 5 weeks off for knee surgery into 5 weeks of vacation. All paid. Still working but thinking of retiring sooner than later. Don't want to go back home. Sent from my Galaxy S3 and Tapatalk 2
I have saw quite a few dead deer on the roads in MA, CT and RI today...with the cold snap setting in this weekend, hopefully it picks up!! I've been experiencing a sever case of the "October lull"....kinda like the bills for the past 20 years......LMAO!!!
20 degree temp drop here in VA....hunting in the morning and I am hoping a buck is moving. Supposed to be 28 degrees on Saturday morning when I hunt in PA. The temp drops will push things to move over the next week.
Not sure if mine came in from a grunt last night or if he was already planning on coming my way and the grunt I made meant nothing...but Im going to say PT is right and my grunt made it happen haha
It's early yet. Come another 10 to 12 days thing will start to pick up. I got scrapes popping up all over too. It's that time of year though. Most from what I'm seeing are young bucks making scrapes and probably never hitting them again. The other night I saw 7 bucks on a piece of property I've never hunted before. All were 1.5 year olds. Each one made a scrape. It was funny stuff. They also were sparring with each other thinking they were tough guys. Good stuff it was.
The 3rd week of October has become one of my favorite times to hunt. The mature bucks (4 years and older) start to venture out of their beds a little earlier then normal. I should have 3 bucks In the last 6 years ranging from the dates of October 24th to the 28th- Got my 143 inch buck in 2007 October 24th. Wounded a 4 year old on October 26th 2009 (150's buck). October 28th 2010 had a mid 160's 5 year old (same buck from 2009) coming directly down my trail to come by at 10 yards but a 3 year old buck showed so he veered off 25 yards (too far for me to shoot) away from me to go kick this other bucks *** (I was pissed). October 26th in 2011 had a 130's 4 year old directly under my tree for 5 minutes but couldn't get a shot off. This was the same buck from the year before that the 160's buck took off after. Everything above was all evening sits. This year my hunting time in October is looking crappy. Too much crap going on at home and money is tight so I've been pretty much living in the milk truck. Not a happy hunter right now.
Nope. You mentioned all day sits. To me all day sits don't do you much good till another couple weeks when things heat up. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
4 point dogging a doe hard tonight in the cut corn...back and forth back and forth..its comin oh boy is it coming....the southern zone is about to get HOT!!!!!!!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
Gotcha, Steve ... I am looking for a doe or two ... the young bucks will be moving them all day I am thinking?
Steve, I wish you the best of luck. Sometimes when things look and feel their worst, good things pop up to make it all good. I believe this will happen to you this season. After being stressed and working your butt off you will slip into the woods one day, soak up the fun times, and just when you think nothing will happen.....a big old buck will come in at 12 yards.
It's starting to heat up just a little south of you also, we are seeing and responding to car vs deer crashes now. as the colder temp's come in, it should bring them to thier hooves. On mid's now til next Wed the 30th, then vacation. (12 days off) i'll be out in the evenings for the next few days. no all day sits just yet November 2-9
