I always try to give myself a good range of DW so I can crank it up or back it off depending on what I'm hunting or shooting. Targets I back way down to 60lbs when getting set up for an elk hunt I'll crank it up to 70lbs
I know broadheads and range make a big difference but where do you guys draw the line on what's ethical to hunt white tail with? How much poundage would you recommend to decapitate a turkey? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
I encourage people to get to 50# for whitetails with a cut on contact, fixed blade head as a minimum and then limit your shots to less than 30 yards. I know that there are lots of people shooting deer with less poundage than that but for me that would be the minimum. A turkey will take less but at 50# you will have enough speed and trajectory to have a better chance at a turkey.
used to shoot maxed out until I tore a muscle in my shoulder. Also miss the 250 arrows a week that used to be my regiment. Love the sport no less, just have to cut back on both poundage and range sessions to keep the shoulder going.
I was told a bow performance is best @ it's bottomed out max poundage because it stablizes the limbs better in the limb pockets. So I always torque mine down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pretty much even on the poll. I didn't expect that. I really expected it to be heavy one way or the other.
I'm working on it, not strong enough yet but putting in the work to get there! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
