Oh no doubt I've read many articles (whether valid or not) discussing that a bow performs "best" at maxed poundage....however some never state what makes this "best" performance...others just discuss speed and/or a few state consistency and some further touch on like you said vibration and such.

I would say that when I shot 63 on a 70lb set up vs now shooting 63 on a 65lb set up I did not notice a difference in hand vibration or sound...at least not noticeable to me personally. Could there be? Sure, but I never noticed.

I shoot my halon maxed at 70.8. I wish they made a 80 pound one though

It really depends on the type of cables/strings you have and what your limbs are capable of handling for preload. My #70 Prime Rival is shooting #74
I've heard of some guys gaining up to 6lbs, but like I said, depends on several things.

Elite intends all pesto should ipaout 2.5# above stated max weight. Aftermarket string should hit the same poundage.

70lbs limbs and 65lb draw. I love my bow and like the limbs in one piece, (cough, cough), with my manufacturer. And it does everything I need it to do so I'm not messing with it. I also shoot from standing, sitting and flat butt on the ground so a little lighter draw weight makes that possible.

Yes. 70#. I back it off a few in late season so it's easier to draw with all those layers on.

I like to back my limb bolts out one full turn, pick my arrow and then adjust the draw weight up or down until I find the sweet spot where they perform the best. Keep in mind that there is more to performance than just speed.

Currently, I'm backed out 1 1/2 turns from bottomed out. Any lower on the draw weight and the arrow speed suffers and pin gaps get wider than I like. Any higher and arrow speed gain was not enough to justify the increased noise an vibration.

When I shot my buck a couple weeks ago, he was in a bachelor group. My bow was quiet enough that he didn't duck the arrow at all and the rest of the group didn't spook. I had to wait for them to move off on their own before I could begin tracking. I was also hunting from the ground at their level.

this is the first elite bow I have bought that didn't come out of the box at the max weight or above. I see where most of them come about 2 lbs over bottomed out. Had to put twists to get mine to max weight...I think that is odd. however, specs are about dead on...
