Peyton blows and he never won the big game. Neb killed him in the bowl that year. Woodson played like a champ in his game.
He is definitely fun to watch but I would take an Eli or Peyton Manning type qb anyday over the run around until somone comes open style. Most guys like him end up being a flash in the pan and never seem to accomplish much in the NFL. I just can't think of a single team that accomplished much with a squirrel for a qb. There is a difference between keeping a play alive ala Joe Montana and Ben Roethlesberger and that becoming your offensive strategy ala Denard Robinson or Michael Vick.
Since when has the title or bowl game ever affected the Heisman vote? Oh yeah, never, because it is voted on before the bowl season.
It proves my point, the best players play their best in big games. Manning has proven time and time again he does not play his best on big games on a consistent bases. He choked against Neb, Woodson led his team to a nc.
I'm not arguing about Manning's pro career or whatever, I'm talking about the time of the Heisman vote, everyone knows that Peyton was robbed. Simple as that.
Yes and since when has the Heisman been an accurate predictor of future success? Again... never. It would be a really long list of superstars that did not win the Heisman and a fairly short list of Heisman quarterbacks that accomplished greatness in the NFL.
I was 7 at the time, so I won't comment on Woodson. I will say that I'm sure there were easier heisman votes though... Two years ago with Cam Newton being one of them.
