So I was going to hunt today based on the temp in the 30's. I was up early this morning because my hips were killing me, the advil really did not do the job so I decided not to hunt. I was sitting watching football when one of the little yappers went to the front door and was growling. The door has a full length window so the dog could see the bird feeder. Normally I would just yell shut up but Pita the yapper watches hunting shows on occasion and only growls when a buck is on the screen, same thing as when she sees a buck out of the front door. It was 2:30 in the afternoon so I was doubtful. I go look out the window and say stupid dog that is a doe until the deer picked up his head and I saw he was either a button or a broken off buck.
Granted I was not going to shoot the little guy if I saw him from the stand but still coming in the yard less than 25 yards from where I was watching the game is like throwing it in my face that I am no threat.
He looks cold. Should have brought him in to warm up. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
was probably listening to the Packer Game, should have invited it in for a beer and possibly some hunting tips
Took my daughter out Saturday. All she has ever seen after a few sits with me each the last couple years just watching and this year getting her a rifle license was a cub bear. Well Saturday in Wi was part of the Antlerless only hunt, last time she will be able to have a chance to shoot something. So what happens, I see movement through the trees and brush to our right. Definitely a deer so I get her attention so she can watch. As it is moving I make out antlers so I know she won't be able to shoot. Buck ends up walking about 15 yards behind us, I was never able to make out exactly what it was but I could tell its rack was ear width. She says she could count 4 time on one side. Hope it was enough taunting so she will want to give hunting a try next year, with a cross bow.
