Looks like a big sycamore leaf sticking upright near it's hindquarters. If so, as a size comparison, it's way too big for a housecat. I don't know what the white square object is in the right side so I can't tell anything using that. If it's a square foam food tray then that's deffinitely a very large cat, mountain lion size. Also it's tail looks "different" than a house cats, like it's got more bulk and weight to it. IDK...
That is definitely a Black panther, or black Mt lion. About ten years ago my dad was out deer hunting during rifle season. He was sitting on a field edge, and heard something running toward where he sat in his treestand. What came running out was a big doe and right on her tail was a huge black cat just like the one you caught on the game cam. They are out there.
This is hilarious. That thing does not weigh more than 10 or 12 pounds. Definitely a housecat. Also, there has never been a black cougar documented or photographed or killed, ever. They are purely mythical.
It appears to me that the pic is zoomed in to make the cat appear larger than it really is. That stump is most likely about 3 feet tall..
Hmmm...tough call on this one. I think the angle and enhancement on the photo is making the cat appear to be bigger than it is. I have seen some pretty large tom cats roaming the countryside, they're tough as nails and weigh upwards of 20 pounds. I'm going to join the masses and declare house cat.
Actually this isn't completely true. President Roosevelt reportedly shot a cougar that was "black" or very dark at least. I read this story a couple years ago but can't seem to relocate it for use here. It's also been speculated that they may be gulf coast jaguarundi of which do deffinitely have a black phase and melanistic cases. These aren't all that large a species though..up to 20 pounds or so. There are known populations of them in Florida where they were released in the 1940's and spread from there.
