I had plans to plant a few food plots earlier this spring but the soil temp wasn't where it should be. Now I was going to rush down to our property this weekend to work the ground and plant but it looks like it may be to wet. The extended forecast for Memorial Day weekend doesn't look to bad right now so that may be my last hope of getting down to plant.

Usually it doesn't bother me that our property is 4 hours away but in this case it is driving me nuts!

Anybody else running into any issues like this?

Farmers haven't even touched the fields here in central MN.

After the winter that never ended ... and the 2nd wettest April on record... It hasn't been good.

Lots of guys around here are getting the stuff in the ground when they can. Some fields are already starting to come up.

I have about 2 acres of WTI power plant to get in the ground and 1/2 an acre of Chicory plus to plant as well. The two areas I am going to plant drain ok so there is still a slim chance I can get it done this weekend. As long as I can make it happen before the end of May I will be happy. Actually for me it would probably be best if the farmer down the road plants before me so the deer will hit his field and maybe give my power plant a chance to grow. I guess time will tell on that one.

Most of my plots are way to wet. Really frustrating.

We've been pretty fortunate here, and I've been able to frost seed and get a planting of buckwheat in (not to mention an April mowing to curb Yellow Rocket).

The best laid plans ....for me I learn a lot during this type of weather. The cold temps that have now lead to really hot conditions, present the biggest challenge , being weed control. I planted a new experimental mix 10 days ago and i loved how it performed under cool conditions. Everything still popped , within 7 days and it's doing exactly what i wanted. I always want a hearty mix that can tolerate various climate conditions and extremes.

If everything went right, putting in the plots would perhaps turn boring???
