Well, first of all.....ever heard of one of those tickets being a mistake. I have. Any chance that the car was driven to see if everything was in order before the customer picked it up? Maybe? I'm just saying that some guys here already have the shop owner hung up to dry and dont have a clue as to what may or may not have happened. This could make the OP end up looking pretty silly if he jumps to conclusions and starts making accusations. Those are the other facts needed. Because right now, you really dont know ANY facts.
I understand what your saying... but based on what we do know.... You don't drive 20 miles to makes sure repaired "body parts" are functioning properly... Mistake... maybe but doubtful, too "coincidental"... I'd say going to the police and let them deal with it is the best advice given... the accusations... while not specific... are pretty cut and dry that unauthorized use has taken place.
OK, went to the body shop on Monday evening to talk to the owner(s). They were as surprised as we were (I don't think that was coincidental). They said they were going to check into it. There is a school kitty corner from the violation address, they were going to call the school and see if they have any video cameras outside the school, I may takle a drive mysefl just to check out that angle. One funny thing that the main owner said right away is that they would pay the ticket, that is wasn't worth the aggravation ?? Hmmmmmm. We didn't make any accusations right away, we will see what happens in the next day or two, the clock is ticking on that violation and it gets bigger by the week !!!
Let the shop pay for it and move on with your life. Just isn't worth the time or the aggravation over a parking ticket. Charges, investigations, cameras ect ect...seems like a little much. Maybe I am just used to it living and working many years in NY, parking tickets are given at a mind boggling rate. Many are unjustified and quota driven, just a part of everyday life. Thankfully I moved.
Moved up to Windham years ago never looked except to think it isn't far enough....next move takes the family totally out of NY.
Oh nice, we have our camp in Andes (Delaware Cnty) and a bunch of my college buddies are from Greenville. Definitely much better up there than down here in Rockland, but unfortunately it's still in NYS.
We just bought a house in Greenville, wanted a closer drive for my wife who works in Albany. The internet makes it a small world lol.
Yeah call the cops. Unless you live in Cali then I would say don't waste you're time. Hahahah. They are a joke around here. I'd probably just go down there and give the owner a piece of my mind. I wouldn't leave until I had the money to cover the ticket. And would definitely let the insurance company know to not recommend that business. Maybe put up a trail cam in the driveway? I work for a body shop. We have 7 shops and personal use of a vehicle would be grounds for immediate dismissal. We take pictures of the entire vehicle when it comes in to the shop, including the odometer so that everyone knows exactly what the mileage is when it comes in to the shop. This is also required for most insurance companies. This could tell you how much the vehicle was used. Most shops have parts delivered, but we would never use a customer's vehicle to get a part. We do take vehicles for a test drive, if warranted. But, we do not take it on a 40 mile test drive! Also, if the vehicle would have been on a test drive it sure shouldn't have a parking ticket. They should do more than just pay for your parking ticket! Keep us posted, I would like to hear how this all turns out. Good Luck!
