Well I have decided on my next bow, I'm going with the Z7 extreme. The pro shop is asking for $699 and then a $100 more to transfer my sight, rest and then set up my nocking point, kisser and peep sight. Is this a good price??

The bow itself is a decent deal, the 100 for setup isn't...you should try and set it up yourself, its worth a shot and you will learn a lot.

I felt that the price was good for the bow and wasnt sure about the set up price. I've been reading alot about how to set up the bow but I haven't really tried. I think your right though, I should learn this stuff and not have to rely on anyone.

Even at $799 total price your doing good. They are selling the bare bow for $899 here in town.

$100 to set up a bow? Wow, That seems way out of line to me, anytime I've ever bought a bow they set it up free of cost... kind of goes with it. The bow price is good, but way too much for set-up IMO...

But in all honesty... that shop is only making about $80 off that bow... That's what they sell them here for and was talking about how there's really no money/profit to the shop in selling bows, and he just works there paid hourly, so it's no skin off his back to tell it like it is. :D

You won't regret trying to set it up yourself man...once you do it , you'll probably be able to do it forever. Saves you money and it's pretty fun too. Good luck to you...also there's videos on YouTube for all of it.

I agree with the other opinions, $100 for a set-up is way too high. I'll add an unless to this though. If they are transferring everything, helping you sight it in and helping you tune it, then $100 may not be too far off.

I picked mine up last month for $689 plus tax. All the goodies were transferred for free.

When I bought mine you got the bow, either a free bag target or $30 off the price off any accessories. Setup was free. Had to pay for the D-loop and peep. Putting my sight, rest, quiver, damper, wrist sling on were all free. Also got 14 free hours of range time. They even made a few adjustments after the fact for free.

Mine was $729 but he transferred or put on new everything on my bow. He also put on a 27" cam instead of what it had. New peep, kisser button, wrist sling and helped me initially sight it in at the store. Can't beat that from what I'm hearing.

100 setup is ridiculous. The two pro shops i use setup your bow and help you sight it in and everything for free when you buy the bow from them! Even if I took my own bow in for a whole new setup, 100 would be ridiculous, getting help for my bear was only 15 bucks or so. Just labor and help.

Think of it this way....$799 and the set up and transfer of accessories are included in the price....good deal. Most of you guys are focussing on the $100 set up. The dealer is deeply discounting the bow..let him make a living somewhere....you guys getting the set up for 'free' elsewhere are paying more for the bow initially....I would pay $699 for the bow and $150 for set up and it would still beat some of your dealers price...bottom line- good deal on your new set up.
