No, change in what deer are doing is all that is happening...and the vast majority of hunters are late to react to the changes.

    Acorns!! Hunt the "yellar" acorns.
If you don't have them on your property, then yes, you're definitely going to have a "Lull" where you hunt.

The oct lull exist for the hunters who don't change the area they hunt.
As the food source changes so does the deer movement. Early season we will see the deer in the soy bean fields. Chances of seeing numbers of deer in the beans today are slim. They have changed to white oaks. As soon as the corn it picked It will change again. Then it will change during the rut.

Yes, its a fact that the deer are moving to feed later and later in the day.

Now...is that because of the time of year or more hunting pressure? Wouldn't be able to tell ya.

Around here...between October 20-25th the pre-rut really starts to kick in and rubs/scrapes pop up EVERYWHERE. There are a few here and there now but bucks are still in bachelor groups and feeding together.

Thats 3 mature bucks together feeding from a cornpile. They lock horns a little and hit some small saplings...but its all under the cover of darkness for now. "October Lull".

I have always attributed the lull to deer reacting to the increased hunting pressure.
