Does anyone know of an app for the Droid phones for a hand held GPS for hunting and does anyone use such a thing?

I use backcountry navigator pro...it was 10$ but does everything a hand held GPS does. Includes sat images as well as topos. You can record trips and plot points with different icons.

Check out the backcountry navigator demo before purchasing.

Have the BackCountry Navigator but i'm not impressed with it. I'll look into my tracks.

The only good thing bout back country is the topo maps and arial versions but its a pain to navigate and confusing for my small minded brain.

Not to thread hijack but does anyone know of apps like this for the iPhone? I have been looking into picking up a handheld GPS for hunting and marking points but like the idea of just taking my one device with me better.

I got "my tracks" now and its free so thats cool haven't messed with it much. Back country navigator costs and I'm to dumb to run it.

I did a search at the apps store for "hand held GPS" and found some that were iPhone capatable.
I'll fool with my tracks tomorrow when I have some time. Thanks for the info all.

I have the Cabelas app (you can learn about it at the Cabelas website), but I havent had to use it yet. I hunt mostly small acreages, so its not like I have to walk miles to my stands.

You can now cache your maps and have them handy when you don't have any service. I also think it's important to note that Recon Hunter has more recent sat maps than the other apps I've tried.

Scoutlook Weather has also recently came out with an app that allows you to access the spots you've saved online, and shows you your scent cone in real time based on the current winds. It's been really accurate for me so far.

Recon Hunter is around $7, Scoutlook is around $2. Both worth it to me.
