A friend has a gift certificate from Gander Mtn and asked me to recommend a game camera.

I told him get either a Covert or Moultrie.

I emailed him some pics from my Moultrie M100 and my Covert MP6. He wasn't satisfied with the night pics from the Covert but loved the M-100 night stuff. But the Covert makes better day pics by far.

Anyone had any experience with this Moultrie M-80-XT? Comments welcome.

.............BTW, I told him whatever he gets it needs to be bear proof because they are in his neighborhood.

OK, thanks for the quick reply, deerslayer. Is it this camera? DLC Covert Extreme Red 40? DLC Covert Extreme Red 40 Camera-702971 - Gander Mountain They're wanting 200 bucks at Gander, was thinking maybe he can find one at a better deal somewhere else on the same cam. I think I've seen them for $150 somewhere.

If your temperatures rarely drop below 20 a moultrie is a good cam, It seems below that temperature the battery life is non-existant. Never used a Covert but have looked into them, good camera it seems.

I have the M-80-XT and really like it. I have had it out in temps to minus 20 and it still works. The batteries that I use mostly are lithium but my Eneloop batteries work fine in sub-zero weather too. The lithium's last almost a year.

I like but have never used a Covert. I plan on buying at least one of them this year but will definitely get more Moultrie's.

OK, thanks again folks for the useful information. I'll email this link to this thread to him and see what he thinks. I think he said he had a $150 gift certificate to Gander and am sure he'll find something satisfactory.

..............in the meantime any more info will be appreciated.
