I didn't want to pay the money for Sitka but I have been tempted. I tried the Nomad line up and have been happy with it so far but I am only on year 3 with them this year. Also consider I hunt Va and NC mostly so temps don't really get that cold. I do hunt a lot in December and January when time permits and have been comfortable with temps down to 25 or so. The best part is I'm not layered up so much I can't move.

I don't own any so I can't speak for the quality or whether it's worth the money. The thing I'm curious about is why is there always so much of it for sale on AT. I mean is it buyers remorse or do you all think the guys who buy it end up not being happy with it?

    Blessings..........Pastorjim

Not that it's not possible for people to dislike Sitka (again, it's not the end all, be all), but I would guess it's a lot of the former.

That or their wives found the receipt :)

I think Sitka is hands down worth it for western hunting, its nice for whitetails but if it wasn't for elk hunting I wouldn't own any. If you are just going for white tail bowhunting, id probably go else where, such as scentlok. Put your saved money into habitat or buy the wife something nice:)

I don't own any Sitka, but I did start buying high end gear last year. I went with Browning Speed and I can say it is leaps and bounds better than anything I've ever owned. Browning Speed and Sitka are similar in price, so if Sitka is similar in quality, it's worth it. I do have friends that own Sitka and they like it.

I was a skeptic of SITKA for sure. I shop at a local sporting goods store, Roger's Sporting Goods. I have shopped there for too many years. I trust what the ladies in there tell me. I asked on day if it was really worth it. I was looking at wool base layers. After looking at all of them I went with SITKA. I was so impressed that I walked out of there with a vest, base layers 1st and 2nd, and a face mask. I have an outer layer that is wind stopper from Day One Camouflage that I just can't replace. It ain't broke, no need to fix it, yet. The vest is the best dang thing I have. It fits like a glove and is freakin' warm!! If I were in need of an outer layer I would go to the SITKA rack for sure. Shop around, some times you can catch a 20-25% off sale.
This is JMO. If you are going to hunt when it is cold you need to set still. It is hard to set still when you're cold. I'm able to set there and just watch what is going on with my new base layers. I'm not a "sit in one place" kinda person. I'm always moving. That is hard to do in a tree stand when the deer you are hunting are usually on edge that late in the season. My feet and hands sweat as much as anyone I know. Don't matter if it is cold or not. I would suggest Darn Tough socks if you are needing something that helps with keeping your feet warm. Pricey but they impress me.
    Stay warm.

I have also looked at getting some new camo. Looking for something Fall/Winter and rain gear if not within the other. I have looked at Sitka, Predator Camo, and I think its Mathews Gamehide. The thing I need to know concerning mainly Sitka is is it worth it to me and/or the right camo that I need. I am from Kentucky where my main hunting is whitetail from a treestand. I looked at the elevated 2 and the subalpine both. Just like to see what you all think. Is it that much better/warmer/quieter for the money or should I go with one of the other brands in your opinion? Appreciate all the feedback!

Also, if it makes a different, I can get on the Leoadventures where I am a state employee and get Sitka for about 40 percent off I believe plus other brands for a $25 yearly membership.

Elevated ll from leoadventures is the route I'm taking. The discount certainly softens the blow.

The discount is the only reason I tried Sitka in the first place a few years ago. It definitely makes a huge difference and brings it to a price point that is much more tolerable.

As many other have mentioned here. It is worth the money, hands down!
I prefer the Camo patterns of First lite, so I use that most of my early season hunts, but once the really cold weather sets in, I switch to Sitka. If you want to stay in your stand comfortably for long periods of time, this is the only option in my opinion!

I called Sitka today to talk about size and what pattern was best for me. First off, as for first impressions go with customer service I give them a 5 star. No waiting and they were extremely helpful in answering all my questions and trying to guide me in the right direction without being pushy or such.

Now, I live in Kentucky and primarily whitetail hunt. Season opens up early September when its hot and every leaf is still on the tree and very green all over. Hard for me to go with the elevated 2 when the subalpine looks to blend a lot better. However, they informed me that with a deer it is not about blending in color wise as much as the pattern blending in with the surroundings. The said deer see only blue and yellow (maybe red, cant remember) but that everything else is just different shades. So even though the elevated 2 might stick out somewhat to the human eye, to a deer it will not.

So has anyone used the elevated 2 in this situation? In a treestand early season when everything is still extremely green? Thanks.

The EVII pattern was made for all season. Otherwise they wouldn't make it in the layering system that they do :)

To answer your question, yes, I've used the EVII pattern during the green foliage stage of the early season and the deer didn't react any different than they did after leaf drop.

Yes, if you spend a lot of time in the woods. The quality and selection is unmatched. IMO. There are pieces that you don't really need right away if money is the issue, like the equinox line. You could get away with using lightweight Walmart camo for the early season stuff until you purchase the more important pieces.

The pieces that I have found to be the most valuable are the stratus pant/jacket and the fanatic hoody/jacket/bibs/vest/gloves. Depending on your location, the stratus line should work for most of the season, barring any extreme highs or lows in temps. The Fanatic set will pay for itself in one below 30 hunt.

Well I bit the bullet, sort of. I applied on LeoAdventures and worked like a charm. I decided to go with the core lightweight hoody $119 and hat $30. Shipping was $9.99. So it came to about $160, then I put my code in and got it 40% off plus free shipping. Came to around $85. Definitely worth the membership if you qualify. Looked at some of the other companies as well, and they are some great deals. Appreciate all of the feedback and input.

I love my Mathews Halon, Vortex glass, and Covert Cameras, but this list wouldn't be complete without my Sitka gear. I own around 15 pieces. I love that their "systems" design allows you to design best what you need. They have a science behind what they do and having worn UA, Scent blocker, and Scent Lok I can say they are superior in approach, design, function, and so much more. I am glad I made the plunge and now I've acquired quite the collection. Someone also asked about how it packs. Pulling functionality from the hiking/climbing world, all gear is designed to condense nicely and to be super light for packing purposes. Amazing products!

If you sweat a lot. Make sure to layer. Merino wool from KUIU or first lite does well. Sitka polyester does well too. A suggestion would be to only get zippered layered shirts. You would be amazed at how well that airs you out while walking to the stand. KUIU has some pants with zippers that are for air to get in to cool down.

All are worth the money if you can afford. They won't help kill more, but you can be more comfortable. I enjoy most of my hunting gear more then the clothes I wear everyday.
