Thinking of buying all new gear for this season. I would like to buy good quality and have it last 3-4 years instead of buying cheaper stuff every other year or so. I want to hear what people who actually have Sitka clothing gear etc and what they think about it honestly. I sweat like no other, so I have to really take my time getting to my stands and some light gear that will hold warmth once I put a top on would be worth $$ imo.
If you've got the means and you're not gonna put yourself in financial crisis. If you can't afford it then start by piecing together some wool clothing, a lil bit at a time.
My Sitka jacket has been well worth the money. I have used it a lot and it still looks like brand new. I would not hesitate to buy more Sitka gear.
Yes. It's not the end all be all, but it's a fantastic system that fits and works great for me. I've been using a variety of their garments for 4 years now and I'm very happy with it. There are places you can find discounts on various classifieds forums. If you're a public employee (teacher, police officer, firefighter, EMT, etc.) you can get a 40% discount through Leoadventures as well.
Without a doubt. For several reasons: 1. Concealment - I feel as if it's the best camo for my surroundings in Indiana. Especially in November when the leaves have pretty much fallen - I think it just blends better than most camouflage. But most would think I'm out of my head with that. 2. Quality materials - comare it to UnderArmour which is what I used mostly prior and I feel like they produce quality stuff. It's not even close - they produce season specific gear that actually works no matter the weather. 3. Thoughtful design - they don't take shortcuts with design. The put pockets where you need them. They build in hand warming material pouches your hands. They consider where you would put specific gear and make pockets specifically for that gear. - I also sweat like no other and I've been very happy with my Sitka warm weather options. Very breathable and seem to conseal my oder quite well. Lol - I could go on as could others... I debated for a long time and finally did it. I'm glad that I did, I feel like it was money well spent.
Yes. On top of the already mentioned comments. I had a warranty issue with incinerator pants. I ripped a seam and feathers were going everywhere! I contacted sitka and they sent me a replacement pair, no charge before I even sent the damaged set back! Outstanding service and warranty.
Yes, in my opinion it is worth the money. I would recommend looking for deals and buy things a couple pieces at a time. sent from my mini hand held phone
Definitely. Hands down the best hunting gear I own. Be careful though. Once you buy some you won't want to stop! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have friends that use and like it. I got tricked into buying Under Armour a few years back when I first started hunting. A lot of UA is Overpriced and poor quality. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
The very cold gear is worth it, the medium stuff can be found in other brands just as good they are a too proud of the price. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
I own no Sitka gear but last year I became interested in obtaining some so I started looking into it. I was referred to a brand called KUIU as being a less expensive version of Sitka that is very similar in effectiveness and quality. I believe the back story is that the owner/founder of KUIU was involved in the development of the Sitka product and left to start his own company (something like that if I remember correctly). Anyway I found the KUIU products to be roughly 2/3 to 3/4 the price of supposedly equivalent Sitka products. I bought a few pieces of what I would consider moderate/cool weather clothing. So far I have been impressed with the quality and performance of this stuff. Like I said I cannot give to a comparison to Sitka but it sounds like from the almost universally ringing endorsements given here and nearly everywhere you look... the Sitka is probably some better and worth the money. For me it wasn't so much that I couldn't afford the Sitka as much as the fact that I just can't justify spending a bunch of money on cold weather clothes. Here in KY we are lucky of we even get 50 hours of temps in the 30's before the orange army descends and ruins everything and after that I just don't hunt that much (especially in December and January). I also don't travel anywhere colder to hunt (although I do have 3 PP's in Iowa now burning a hole in my pocket). Therefore I can't justify spending $500-$1000 on a set or two of cold weather hunting clothes no matter how great they might be. If you are on a pretty tight budget or like me (can't justify)... take a look at the KUIU stuff and maybe buy a piece of it and see what you think.
I've used both and I gotta say I'd go with Sitka. It may be a little more expensive but it's definitely worth it, the camo pattern on the sitka gear is so much more advanced that the KUIU. Plus in my opinion, Sitka is way more durable, comfortable, and warm.
A good friend trial157 got me a baselayer Sitka top for Christmas. That sucker is freakin nice. Between it and the firstlite stuff I got i will say it's waaaaaayyyy better than the cheap Stuff
For me, no. For you possibly. I am not saying it's not excellent clothing, I have heard nothing but good things. I cannot justify spending the $ personally Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have the whole whitetail line up from the equinox all the way up to the incinerator...i use every piece and love every piece....it works as designed....it fits great...its durable...i have no complaints at all....price sucks but my reasoning was if I'm spending 1000+ on my bow and arrows and stands and blinds and cameras ect...why not on my clothing...to me it was an investment in clothing that functions well and that ill get multiple seasons out of....i love it all! Yes. Buy it used if you want to save the money. You'll never know the difference the stuff holds up that well. I'd stay clear of the Subalpine outer wear stuff. They made it much lighter but it's really scratchy and loud. Sent most of mine back and I'm buying the older stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
To me it is worth it. I own quite a few pieces (Equinox, Stratus, etc.) and have not been dissatisfied with it once. Yes it is expensive and there are cheaper options, but I love the stuff. My only complaint is it is not made in the USA but good luck finding quality hunting clothing that is made here. I know of a couple but they don't make anything I like.
Yes it's worth the money. I have a good bit of it and I am satisfied. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree KUIU in my experience just didn't hold up and their Customer service sucks . I always end up back to Sitka when I can afford it or First Lite. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Are they bulky or hard to pack? I have a decent jacket and bibs from gander mountain that I like, but they are bulking and take up a lot of room. Plus, I do not think I can keep them as scent free as I need them to be. And finally, I hate being cold. I want a jacket and bibs to pack that are warm enough to put on over minimal base layers. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on these, buy once, cry once. Anywhere that has them for a deal?
