Is shepherds pie white trash?!

WT?????????????? huh... its just plain good!

 

I heard that peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are racist, so I suppose shepard's pie is white trash food?

I always thought tuna noodle casserole was white trash food. :D

 

There is a difference between white trash tater tot casserole and shepherd's pie. I personally like my shepherds pie with grated cheese baked on top.

 

Agreed. My relatives love the bean casseroles, but not me.

I like something more like this recipe. Though sometimes dropping the tomato and wine and going for a dark beer/stout and adding some fresh or frozen green peas.

I've made beef gravy and poured that on top. It was AWESOME! Havent done that in a while. Usually dont make much shepherds pie until fall time. Too bad I forgot the gravy for the first batch!

What is with everyone drooling of this? This look inedible to me. A can of cream of mushroom dumped over canned green beans, heated up frozen tater tots, and buttered sandwich bread? This is what you people eat?

 

This will be your dinner in 4-5 years when Baby Hooker is able to eat "people food." You better ease into it first by eating some SPAM sandwiches, graduate to the Banquet family size frozen dinners, and then on special occasions, this delectable Shepherd's Pie.

 

What do you mean "you people"? lol I wouldn't label any food as white trashy maybe gluttonous and lazy. I went over a friends house back in the day and they ate Mac n' cheese with cut up hotdogs in it. My reaction even at the age of 12 was "Really, you guys call this dinner?" Of course I didn't say that but I definetely thought it was an odd dinner. Almost something a kid would come up with playing kitchen. We are so blessed in this country we can actually judge eachother based on what we eat! That's crazy! Kinda spoiled. =/

 

HOLD IT! Let the record show, this is not Shepherds Pie. ok moving on.

 

By the way we've all seen that pic of that hot mess of a meal so many times I bet we are all a little bit desensitized to it.

 

I thought shepherds pie had biscuits baked in it? The only time I ever had was in grade school in the cafeteria.

 

I love shepherds Pie. My wife makes it with fresh veggies and venison. My G-Ma on the other hand would freeze all of her left over veggies and at the end of the month she would throw them all in a pot with some cream of mushroom and ground beef and then slap some mash taters on top. it tasted different each time. To through out a qualifier we were so poor growing up we ate mayonaise sandwiches.

For the record white trash food is hamburger helper without the hamburger.

 

I make mine with biscuits. I cook for one most of the time and this is an easy, quick, great meal for me. But I do enjoy mudding, giggin, fishing, and live in a trailer so I'm probably white trash anyways. I'm ok with that

 

I also like to eat cotton tail rabbits, squirrel, rocky moutain oysters (calf nuts), and love craw fish boils

There is ground beef in the dish too I believe....to give it more of a Cajun flavor I’m sure gator meat could be substituted? :p
